Please counter what I said with facts, I don't like being wrong. Your comment would have better visibility for me here (and any others like me that may like you said haven't done enough research) to go back and read then being buried in discord.
@officialfuzzy The fact that whaleshares exists is proof that there is something seriously wrong with the SteemIt protocol. Somehow they didn't find it high priority to make it fair and self regulating the past 12 months, let's hope the next 6-12 are different and they finally tweak it so at least the protocol is ready for mass adoption.
I dont consider it wealth when its sp because in a market crash im screwed. But i also care enough to take the risk of keeping it in sp because i want to build. Call it what you want but sp is not for risk averse people.
p.s. is it fair i upvoted my response in here using steem power and if not....should we get rid of steempower altogether? I mean that would crash the price of steem but, seems like if you dont like whaleshares you just dont understand or dont like steempower. I personally think that would kill steem to get rid of sp. But of course if you want to keep sp then you should consider whaleshares even LESS dangerous.
So in short. Learn about steempower. Learn that it means buying influence. I can't believe i'm even having to say this...lol
Many aspects of steemit can be used to help the community or be abused by some. This might be such a thing. We don't know yet if it will be helpful to us all or cause us harm. Good to hear your opinion!

nothing cannot be abused. and i mean nothing. you can kill yourself drinking water. the key to it is that it cannot be abused for long without significant consequence. :)
Remember just because I pass out whaleshares tokens doesnt mean I can't override something like child porn or other terrible crap. And yes....since I plan to sell very few and the only real way to earn lots of them is by A) doing important stuff for me or B) winning competitions, its gonna be very difficult to get enough to become a huge problem.
And tbh if someone does, I have no qualms with destroying their plans by just ensuring I manually kick them from the service :)

even if you do not pay whaleshares tokens, this is one really useful measures to stop the abuse. I totally agree you, and in anyone does abuse, hopefully there will be people reporting that.
I hope I didn't insinuate that you would! My concern is that whales will start upvoting anything regardless of quality. I'd rather if you could have away to turn X of the tokens into a resteem if the whale agrees with the quality of content. I want to promote the little guys that have great content.
This platform is still a mess, i'm slowly losing interest again and if the next hard fork doesn't fix enough i'm gonna take another 6 months break probably.
I don't understand...aren't the devs the ones that need to apologize to 99% of the users that are powerless curators? And what about the constant upvoting of bad content without repercussions? The platform still has many flaws, but mega potential of course ;)
They need to figure out how to properly tweak all the algorithms so they work together as a self regulating system. Right now 99% of the content makes either way too little or way too much. Regulating quality isn't incentivized properly.

Linear rewards AKA more fair distribution of voting power. But i'm pessimistic about it, it doesn't look nearly drastic enough to me.
