What Are Whaleshares?

"Whaleshares" are a token-based tool that accurately and professionally applies whale voting power to a users posts.
This allows people to build their steempower and payouts while giving whales incentive to hold their steempower instead of powering down – This should also help the price of steem remain consistent.
This means that you can buy or win Whaleshares, and use them for some major post promotion!
Alternatively if you're fiscally responsible, altruistic or a great friend you could give them to me. I mean save them... >.>
How do I get Whaleshares?
Click Here to Download Bitshares!
- Once installed, navigate to Whaleshares by clicking "Find Markets" (Right hand side of the app)
- Choose the BTS market, then search for "Whaleshares"

You can sign up for an openledger account and access your account from any browser. Sign up for openledger here - Thanks @jphenderson!
Now you can trade your Bitshares for Whaleshares. (see below)
It may take some time for your trade to go through, so place your position. In the meantime you can get some FREE whaleshares by entering contests on Steemit.

How do I use WhaleShares?
First you will need to get your link. Navigate to the article you want to promote. Ctrl - C
Navigate to http://whaleshares.net/ and follow the steps.
The Best Part
Now that you have your modified link and your WhaleShares
- Return to the Bitshares App.
- Navigate to "Send"
- Copy your modified link into the memo field.
- Choose the power of your upvote. 1 Whaleshare = 1%
- Make sure to send it to
whaleshares
Thats it!

When you use Whaleshares on a post, you are investing in your fellow human beings. What goes around, comes around... they will often reinvest in you.
I'm plain on doing a WhaleShares promo video. If I use the first tag #WhaleShares, would that be good enouth to earn any WhaleShares, or do I have to let some know what I'm doing?
Head over to the whaleshares discord server https://discord.gg/NTKXJhK and see if you can find someone who would be willing to pay some whaleshares for it xD
Just be careful though, the bitshares interface is a bit clunky, and if you change tabs, you have to refill everything on your transfer form again.
I kept double-checking, and somehow the first time I did it, I still managed to send BTS instead of WHALESHARE to the whaleshares account! So perhaps I should have looked it over 5x instead of 3x!
Oh, and ONE MORE THING... GET SOME BTS!!! You can easily get some by converting a few SBD to BTS via blocktrades. When I did it, the exchange rate was about on par with coinmarketcap. But otherwise, it will try and use 1 WHALESHARE as the transaction fee (potentially worth around 4 bucks), instead of using about 0.24 BTS (which is still sort of steep for a small transaction, but by comparison, that's currently only about 8 cents)!
Finally, also be careful with the bitshares app. Twice now I left it running for several hours on my Windows 10 PC, and both times it started completely maxing out ALL MY CPUs until I shut it down. If you don't notice it, it can really screw up some of the other things you're working on (not to mention overheat your PC), so just be aware of that as well!
Yes! Be very careful when sending. Double, triple, or as @alexpmorris mentioned, look it over 5x.
I recommended the app as it was the solution that best worked for me. I haven't noticed the spike in CPU usage. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up, and good luck in the contest!

@gktown this is one of the best topics I have read today. As a minnow and noob to Steemit, I never really understood what Whaleshares are and how I can get some. I have joined their Discord but no one there explained it as well as you did. I'm going to link this to my next post about my experience on this platform for the second week. Great job and thanks!
