IS THE PRICE OF WHALESHARES OVERVALUED?
If you don't like contests or being active on the discord, the only way how to get WhaleShares is to buy them on the exchange. There was a discussion (that I am very glad of) on the WhaleShares discord about it's current price - it seems that the token is too expensive!
Right now, WhaleShare tokens are being sold for 1.9BTS each. That is in the current price of Bitshares 0,5795$ for one WhaleShares token. One token can add between 0,2$ or 0,3$ to a newly created post or more if it is a older one with already high payout. Is it expensive though? I think it is little bit more complex.
The Whaleshares project is very young. The main distributor of those tokens is OfficialFuzzy. As OfficialFuzzy have a lot of work, he has distribution links. Right now, those links are people who do contests or are valuable members of the steemit community. He gave those people tokens so those tokens can be shared amongst many people as fast as possible for people in need. Some people used their WhaleShares to make amazing contests.

That means that the only tokens that you can get on the exchange are those that people won on the contests or when fuzzy shared some on the discord. This is why it is also a good idea to be on the discord and to be an active community member. Maybe this will be the last time when you could get them without any hard work!

This is another reason why the spread between buy orders and sell orders are that big. Nobody knows the true price, equilibrium between supply and demand is still has to be made.
So maybe the price is too high right now. Or maybe it isn't. Let me give you some more reasons why the price can surge even higher later on.
- Advertising is just one of the thing that this token can do.
- It can inrease your payout and your visibility amongst other posts, also it can put your post on trending or hot tab.
- Voting by a WhaleShares on your posts and comments can also increase your reputation in longer time period.
- Whaleshares is a community, not just a voting bot. You can get to know some amazing people on the discord and help each other out. Then maybe you will not even have to use that many WhaleShares as you will be getting votes from other sources too!
- After HF19 the votes will be more worth and thus the tokens will have more worth.
- If more people join WhaleShares and delegate some steem power onto the voting account, the power of those votes will be stronger and thus increasing your potential payout.
This and more are the reasons that can make WhaleShares tokens very valuable and that it could increase its value in the long-term. The only problem I see is that when you use your WhaleShares, they go back to the source, so there need to be contests or other ways how to get WhaleShares all the time or they will not be distributed enough and the price will never be set.
Right now they are probably too expensive, I agree. But no one is asking you to buy some. You can wait or join many of our contests.

I earn my Whaleshares so far by stay active on discord and from contests ! Every one can do this is several contests running !

one cool thing about whaleshares is that it also can take into account that there is a good chance that if you use one you will be put in the hot and maybe even trending tags...which increases the chances of being seen and upvoted by others significantly.
So this might also be hidden in the current valuation! :D
We made whaleshares because we wanted to leverage tokens to help BOTH Steem and the BitShares ecosystem that made Steem possible. ;)
Its called synergy and though some like to always attribute negative attributes to what we are doing, I hope people see that what has happened up to this point proves the "authorities" are pretend authorities...

i am kind of the biggest sap in the world and it makes me pretty much wear how i feel on my sleeve. this also just so happens to be the absolute worst attribute to have when aspiring to play poker with a modicum of successful outcomes.
