I wrote about one of my first travel experiences here in China. It's a memory that's stayed with me for three reasons:

1. The two other foreigners I was traveling with two of the closest friends I've met here. They've since departed China.

2. It's the biggest holiday in China and I got to spend it with a Chinese family. It was a good feeling to be so warmly received and see the culture from within.

3. Fireworks. Exploding everywhere. All over the city I was in. Who could forget that?
