Hard Fork Woes are Subsiding? - So Slowly

While I'm enjoying some down-time from Steemit, I figured I would take a look around the interwebs to find any other new and interesting platforms that might be able to fill the void that Steemit has left in my daily life. Our fellow steemian @tecnosgirl provided me with a link to this new blockchain platform (which looks quite similar to Steemit). Considering this platform is very new and has all of the original drawing aspects that Steemit had for me over a year ago, I decided to check it out.

The new platform is called WEKU.

I'm going to start spending some of my time over there and building a rapport with the community. It seems like several fellow steemians have already opened their blogs on that site as well. I've seen a few big names from here cross-posting their blogs. It's encouraging to see that many of the people who I enjoy reading on here are making the effort to post on WEKU as well!

If you're interested in signing up, the process takes VERY LITTLE TIME. I think I had my account created within a minute or less. You're welcome to use, or ignore, my referral link. If you decide to use it, you will get started off with 100 WEKU: https://deals.weku.io/pick_account?referral=evolved08gsr . This isn't a "delegated" or temporary amount, but a permanent starting value.

I'm still working out the kinks; I think I posted my first post in the wrong category.. but it's a pretty easy site to use, especially if you're familiar with posting on Steemit. I'll still be posting on Steemit, because I love the community here (even though I may not always be fond of the "management").

I hope to see you all over on WEKU! Feel free to ask me questions below and I'll respond with what I know. I'm going to spend some more time learning about the platform and witnesses and such over the coming weeks.

Sort:

there are two mirrored sites for Weku that are not secure I suspect they are meant to try to steal accounts but as long as you make sure the https is in front of the site you are on you will be fine. Be aware of the scam sites meant to steal keys

thx for this warning @tecnosgirl

appreciate

After looking over Weku; I just can’t bring myself to join. I completely understand when chains use the open source Steem code as the base of their project, but Weku goes far beyond that.

I’m sure the Steemit site design itself is not open source, and Weku is a full ripoff of it, right down to the sidebar FAQ being outright plagiarism of a document the Steem community worked hard to put together. I could only chuckle at the Steemcleaners clone, Wekucleaners; battling plagiarism on a platform that’s a counterfeit.

It may have been a great way for Weku to get up, running, & testing, and perhaps they’ll have an amazing redesign in the future, but for now it’s just not a foundation I could feel good about building on.

That's fair.. and in 3 weeks when I'm able to finally post at a normal rate again, I may agree with you. But until then, I'm going to continue to post on the "ripoff" platform because after this post, I will have 0 Resource Credits again .. if I even have enough RC to post this comment at 10:14 PM EST on 9/27..

nope.. I'll wait...

hi @Bryan-imhoff

thanks for sharing your experience with this platform. I also didn't enjoy WEKU so far.

hi @evolved08gsr

Would you happend to know how popular WEKU is comparing to Steemit?

I wonder if there is already solid community or is it a ghost town?

Yours
Piotr

I don't know the specifics, but there are a lot of people over there!
