Weekend Freewrite. Part 1,2 and 3steemCreated with Sketch.

Micheal sat down in the middle of the road and began to cry. Men weren't supposed to cry he remembered his mom saying, but he didn't care for that now, and besides, he wasn't a man yet.

He was only a boy, a boy who had gotten lost just because he chased after a silly rabbit, which he would gladly have fed a carrot too. It was so dark and that was the least cause of his tears, this was the third turn he had taken and unfortunately, he still landed in the same clearing. Surrounding by ominously large trees.

It was so frustrating and he was really hungry. He closed his eyes tightly to force stop the tears but heard a rustle behind him. He was afraid to look up, suddenly scared of the tales he had heard from his cousins about the dreadful forest. What on earth made him leave the house in the first place? Now he wished he hadn't come visiting his cousins in the village for Christmas.

He should just have stayed home, where the roads actually led somewhere.

He walked to the bushes by the left, and crouched.

“I can't help but laugh as I continue to feed the invisible fish that someone else wants to have for his dinner.” A voice was saying, or at least what he could make out.

Micheal didn't know if he heard right. But hearing a human voice made him adhesive and so he stood up, to see who the voice belonged to.
He peeked through the shrubby leaves, which opened up into a luminesce garden, and there in the middle, surrounded by bright lights and mini waterfalls, he found an old woman, staring into a little pond, she had hair so thick and long...it swept the ground behind her. He closed his eyes, thinking he must have fallen asleep with them wide open.

He opened them again, and still, there she was grinning at him, grinning with red gums in lieu of teeth.

She lifted her hand and held a cupped hand towards him, her veins bulging out of her filmy brown skin.

His mouth couldn't form any words and so he kept mum, gazing motionlessly at the strange sight.

Elizabeth got down from the car, only just remembering the bill she forgot to pay for its recent wash. She was in such a hurry to make it back to her sister's house in the village for Christmas, and she was sure Micheal would be getting all restless without her.

She almost regretted dropping him off and running back to town again. Her cell phone rang, and she looked at the caller ID. It was her sister calling. Speak of the devil, she whispered before swiping to answer.

“I was just about to call you,” she said.

“No, you weren't”

“It’s Christmas, I am not going to argue with you.”

That was Elizabeth and Sophia for you, two sisters, three years apart... all grown but always bantering at each other.

“Where is Michael?” She asked, “I hope he isn't causing a lot of trouble.”

Sophia laughed, “He is here with me. He has been sleeping for close to three hours now. Wait, I think he's stirring now.”

Michael sat straight on the sofa, and stared heavy-lidded at his aunt.

It was all a dream.
