Wednesday Walk in the Boreal Forest of Saskatchewan...
Time for the #Wednesdaywalk an initiative started by @tattoodjay.
I'll be taking you for a walk down the trails in the Boreal forest continuing to show the succcessions of blooms and sharing the bird songs from our region.
Lets head down our lane with my husband and Bruno leading the way.
Lovely Bird Songs with a View of the Marsh Marigolds and Golden and Silver Willows
We planted the silver willows at the head of our lane and golden willows and the red osier dogwood down the lane.

We still have some chokecherries in bloom but most of the berry bushes have started to set fruit now and it's looking like a real good berry year with the haskaps first, followed by strawberries, then Saskatoons, pincherries, chokecherrries, high bush cranberries and in fall the blueberries and bog cranberries. M-m-m!

I saw the first wild rose of the season on my walk today and the pollinators were right on it.

The lovely patch of silver pussy toes are in bloom now too! Can you see why they call them pussy toes in the image below?

The neighbors horse pasture right at the end of our lane was lush and green with the horses grazing.

Turning into our lane the carraganna bushes with their bright yellow blossoms brighten the lane.

At the head of our lane we have some mountain ash and lilacs planted which are in bloom now.

Also in the yard we have honeysuckles in bloom.

To end the walk we have a couple of visitors - a dragonfly and a frog.

Silver willows and mountain ash were my favorites. You wrote you planted some of the specimens, right? Are you taking care of some part of that forest?

I live right in the forest and I planted trees in the yard around our house.
I've planted many trees on our land some as ornamental, food for the wildlife or some like the willows I planted to soak up some of the water that sits by our lane way.

Ahhhhh, what a lovely post to start my day! I love frogs and so the frog photo was the favorite. My frogs appeared in the last few days.
Our wild roses are the invasive multifloras. I wish they were ones like yours...
I have never heard of the invasive multiflora and never thought of roses as invasive. Were they a native species or an introduced species?

"Multiflora rose is an exotic invasive perennial shrub native to China, Japan, and Korea... The importation, distribution, trade, and sale of multiflora rose have been banned in Massachusetts effective January 1, 2009....Introduced into the United States in the 1860s (Dryer, 1996), multiflora rose was used in the horticultural industry as readily available rose root stock for rose breeding programs and as an ornamental garden plant....By the 1930s it was widely planted in the Midwest and northeastern states at the encouragement of the USDA, Soil Conservation Service for erosion control programs, wildlife habitat enhancement programs, and as a natural barrier to roaming farm animals (i.e. “living fence”)...
It grows pretty quickly and certainly would make a living fence. But it would require a lot of time to maintain it. We have to cut it off our electric fences at least twice a year.
What a lovely inspiring place to go walking, lovely plants in your area most we do not get. Honeysuckle is one I do know the birds love that in particular.

Ya that's kind of funny that I love to snap photos, especially when the light is good, so my hubby usually leaves me behind and carries on, getting home to feed the dog.

wow @porters, you've got a lovely spot - so much abundance. I really enjoyed seeing your corner of the world in all its spring glory. Saskatchewan is one of my favorite places, lots of good memories there. Our family has a cabin at Candle Lake (near PA) and we used to come every summer when my son was growing up.

Oh @walkerland you do know our area fairly well then if you spent summers at Candle lake which is in the Boreal region. Late spring and summer are the most glorious times here - I even heard that Saskatchewan is suppose to be one of the best places in the world to be when it's summer!
