Wednesday walk challenge - Today, to... the acupuncture!

Here is my entry today on this challenge.

As some of you already know by now, I've been sick of my ears from around 2 months now. In Timor-Leste, a young nation still on its way to development, health care treatments are still basic, so I can't get a reliable treatment here (despite having tried enough) and I'm expecting the validation of my insurance and go abroad to get a proper assessment. Apparently, I'm suffering from tinnitus, a weird condition who makes buzzings and ringings on our ears 24h a day. Which has been driving me crazy.

So, aiming not get mad, I'm having some acupuncture treatments meanwhile, which bring me some relief for a couple of days.

As you also know by now, East Timor is an island, and Dili, the capital where I live now, is in the North coast of the country, so the sea is always by our side. The clinic is located in the main waterfront boulevard of Dili, called Avenida de Portugal (Portugal Avenue) or best know as Avenida dos Coqueiros (Coconut trees Avenue). Here is where many important buildings, as embassies, are located.

On the way to there, we are, once more, surrounded by beauty: the wonderful landscape and some unique appointments, like the beautiful church of Motael, the monument to the victims of the Santa Cruz massacre in 1991, and some architectural details that survived from the time East Timor was a Portuguese colony, like the lighthouse and this typical chimney.

And of course, some street art, a sign of the modern times, mixed with traditional elements like the fishing boats and fishermen trying to get some fish and get some money to put food on the table of their (large! It's normal people here have up to ten children, or more!) family.

In the early mornings or at the end of the afternoon - during the day is too hot - we can see people jogging or just walking along the waterfront sidewalk. Or just sitting and chatting. Timorese are not very fond of going to the beach to swim or just get a dip, they rather stay before the sea doing something else.

In front of this long avenue, we can see the Ataúro island, also Timorese, best known for being a divers' paradise, because of its corals and diversity of species.

And so I arrived at the clinic, but the way itself it's, somehow, already healing for me.
