A day in my garden...steemCreated with Sketch.

Today I decided to take a walk in my garden. While much of it has died back due to the cold temperatures, there is still much life. I am entering my garden walk into #wednesdaywalk which was started by @tattooedjay to encourage us to get out and enjoy our surroundings. I am also joining in on the #gardenjournal2018 which was started by @simplymike so that we can share all that is happening in our gardens, both inside and outside.

We have a little bit of snow...not much for this time of year.

Many of my flowers still look green as they poke out through the snow.

My butterfly bush is one of the last to give up in the fall and one of the last to join in on the fun in the spring.

My forget me nots seem to be already preparing for spring.

You can see the stems from the bee balm in the background.

During the summer, this pot holds a geranium. During the winter, the geranium joins me inside.

I often leave my hosta flowers on the plant. They reseed and I have little hosta in the spring.

I leave the flowers on my hydrangea for the winter because I really like the winter interest. This one is an Annabelle hydrangea.

The bunnies ate the flowers that I planted in the pot this year. I decided to try putting some lamium in the pot to see if it would survive the winter.

All of this lamium started from just a few plants. It has filled in beautifully. I like it so much that I am putting it in other gardens around my yard.

Thank you for joining me today while I took you on a walk around my garden during a less than typical time for a garden walk.

Thanks for joining the Garden Journal Challenge for this month, @nat-expressions. You've got a lot going on spite of the fact that it's winter.
I don't have a lot of perennials myself, but I do have some. After reading your post, I'm even thinking of doing my own garden update this month. I skipped last month's because I thought there was not a lot to show people, but you've changed my mind: there is, even in winter :0)
It looks like your gard6n is quite big. I can't wait to see how it will look in spring...

Thank you for your kind words! I'm excited to be a part of this challenge. And I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of your garden.

Considering winter and the snow still a lot of green in your garden

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip

Our winter so far has been quite mild. Usually my gardens would be completely covered in snow at this point. I really enjoy all of the Wednesday Walk posts.

🎁 Hi @nat-expressions! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @tattoodjay!

@tattoodjay wrote lately about: Seasonal Windows Tiffanys Feel free to follow @tattoodjay if you like it :)

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide :)

Thank you very much!

You did a wonderful job photographing your garden!

My favorite was new growth for spring followed closely by the ice arch.

Thank you for your kind words. I don't usually take a close up walk at this time of year. I really enjoyed all that I found.

Your garden, when in full bloom must be spectacular, and one that you are very proud of.
I haven't walked around my gardens in some time, but just yesterday when I did, there was more going on than I had anticipated, some good some bad.
The apple trees that are still very small had been nibbled on by the deer.
Time to spray with the egg and milk solution again, as it works great in keeping the deer away.

I also have issues with the deer and the rabbits thinking that my garden is a salad bar. I have tried to plant things that they are less likely to eat. Sometimes I feel successful with that and other times, not so much!

It's always sad for me to see the end of summer gardening.

I really like fall...even in the garden. If I am going to divide my perennials, it is almost always in the fall. For me it is a planning time. Planning and creating makes me happy.

Dividing perennials is September gardening for me. Then we have a two month gap and the seed catalogs come out for Christmas. Yes, planning is a happy time.

I enjoyed reading your posts and seeing your photos. I can't do much gardening anymore, so is good to see a garden close up in all its phases.

I'm glad that you enjoyed my photos. I love to garden and take photos in my garden. And it makes me happy when others are able to enjoy my photos. Thank you for dropping by.
