Rain is an unfortunate part of life. Especially in June. In Japan. In fact, if you've been following my blog as I've posted about my #wednesdaywalk for the past few weeks, you'll notice that I mention the rain in every. single. post.

But...one of the joys of dog ownership is that you have to get them out of the house. Or you have to be okay with them peeing on your floors. Which I am not. So, out of the house and into the wet we go!

We took the opportunity to get down and study some of the bugs and creepy-crawlies that like to come out when the rain comes down, and found a pair of slugs (namekushi in Japanese) crawling around a small stump that had recently sprouted a fine crop of curling mushrooms. It was the first time I had ever managed to find these guys out in the wild; each one was about 8 centimeters long and fat as anything.

And that's it. We turned around and walked swam back home!
