A Walk Down to the Saugatuck Reservoir

Centennial Watershed State Forest

A couple of days ago I went to Holbrook Farm in Bethel, CT for a delicious breakfast sandwich from the Eat Justice Food Truck. While I was driving home, I stopped by a short hiking trail that is located in the Centennial Watershed State Forest. The trail leads to an overlook of the Saugatuck Reservoir. It was nice short walk and it brought me to a great spot to enjoy my morning coffee.

The leaves on the trees are slowly starting to show their autumn foliage. As temperatures continue to drop, they will be on the ground in no time. The Centennial Watershed State Forest consists of over 15,000 acres of forest that is owned by Aquarion Water company. Although much of the area is off limits to the public and patrolled by security officers, there are some opportunities to hike on the Aspetuck Valley Trail and Saugatuck Trail.

Down by the reservoir the water was calm and the area was quiet. Despite the stormy-looking sky, the rain held off and it was a peaceful start to the day.
