Wednesday Walk - To The Meditation Temple !!
Today Wednesday morning was a free morning for me in actual fact no work today and it was a perferct day for a walk a little cloudy and a fresh morning. So i decided there is this particular temple that i have always wanted to see and today was the perfect opportunity to go see this temple so i got myself ready have a couple cups of coffee grabed all the gear i needed and walked of to the skytrain station and i was my way to visit this Temple.
Arriving at the closest train stop to the temple it was about an one kilometer walk to the temple a beautiful day for a walk through the busy touristy area many Tuk Tuk's around if you don't like to walk but i prefer to walk you get to see more and photograph what you like.
So here i am have on the grounds of the Temple and the name of this Temple is the Wat Ratchanaddaram Temple meaning the temple of peace and meditation and it is the main reason why i wanted to come here as sometimes i feel i need to be alone just sit some where enjoy the peace and quietness without been disturbed and this was the perfect temple just to do that.
Any Temple you go to in Thailand before you enter you take your shoes of and step into the temple without putting your feet on the lower part of the door frame beneath you always step over that it's a sign of respect and enter the temple as if you were entering a library no talking. Every temple always has a temple dog or cat as a security guard but they are always alseep.
The Temple is seven stories high and each floor except for the very top floor has long hallways with small benches where you can either sit down or walk the hallways up and down in any direction and meditate and in the center of the temple it has a steep spiral staircase to climb and choose which floor you like to meditate on.
This is looking at the meditation hallways from the outside of the Temple.
The actual Temple was designed by H.M. King Nangklao for his favorite Grand Daughter , Princess Somanass Waddhanawathy in 1846. So this temple certainly has a lot of history behind it.
It most definitely has some great views of the city of Bangkok from the seventh floor of this temple and over looking the smaller temple surrounding the main temple.
Looking down on the roof of the Temple.
After doing my walking meditation on the sixth floor they say higher up you are in a temple the better it purifies your mind and soul. Having done that and feeling better about myself i head back down the steep spiral staircase head out of the temple and take a couple more photos of this beautiful temple.
Some History on the Wat Ratchanaddaram Temple for your information if you like to know more about the Temple.
After finishing up my walking meditation in the hallways of the temple i headed across the road to breath some fresh oxygen from these beautiful trees in this park i saw from the rooftop of the temple.
The day was really starting to heat up i decided i had done enough walking time to go home , walking along the river canal to head out of the park a Komodo Dragon comes out of the water to say hello to me says hello i snap a couple shots of him and he goes by his own business.
Walk out to the main road jump in a Tuk Tuk and ask him to take me to the nearest skytrain station and my day could not have been any better.
Tuk Tuk take me home...hehe :)
Thank you @tattoodjay for #wednesdaywalk challenge it's certainly giving me more of a boost to get out there and see the beautiful things around us.

@hangin Oh, you know I had to come back again! Wat Ratchanaddaram Temple is an amazing piece of architecture and the backstory of it construction is equally as impressive. The temple was built by the orders of King Nangklao for the princess granddaughter, Somanass Waddhanawathy in 1846. The translation of it means Temple of the Royal Niece
I really need to speak to my uncle! I am feeling sorely underprivileged!
I really like the angles that you chose to get some of these shots. Unexpected and unusual, but, I think that adds to the charm. Or perhaps that is just me. ;) I am a little bit unusual like that. I think the culture dictates that same respect when you enter another's house, the taking off of the shoes. I would say that in most Asian houses, this is the norm, so I expect that respect to be ramped up in a Temple. (after all, is this not a HOUSE of worship and meditation?) Now, what I didn't know, as an ugly American is that you step over the threshold. How could I not know this???
I love the guards they have! That is so precious to come upon that! I really like the different levels for meditating, I am a wanderer when I meditate. I actually am much better in that state than to sit in one place. I always thought it was a little weird, but, it is also very relaxing and so very peaceful.
Your views are stunning and the absolute serenity found there is priceless. I also looked up the school that is connected to the temple and wow! The archtecture there is also amazing! The entire complex is stunning!
A kilometer is a long way to walk in the heat.
Komodo Dragons swim? Holy Moly. I thought about wading in the water there. Oh, no bueno. I would be one of those stories people talk about. Ignorant tourist gets eaten by Komodo Dragon while swimming. OMG!
THAT was an incredible WednesdayWalk! Let's do it again next week. As usual, you really shine when it comes to being a tour guide. If this job you have doesn't work out, you know what you need to be doing. Thanks again and Boy, Howdy!! That was awesome, but, honestly, that Komodo Dragon is still freaking me out. I know it's a baby, but they grow!
Upped and Steemed

OMG...Where do i start with this outstanding comment when you write a book you do write a book i love it....well first of all you really do need to speak to your uncle and ask him to buy you a ticket over here so you can find the location of where to build your Temple i will be your tour guide and adviser.
And i feel honored that yet you have learned a couple new things from my post the stepping over the threshold and Komodo Dragons do swim but you are safe because they are only seen in lakes and canals were in those places you wouldn't swim. They are actually quite friendly they keep to themselves there is a park called Lumpini park you can see them walking around in certain areas of the park they just walk out in front of you as if you are not even there amazing to see i love these Dragons i was feeding one last time i was in this park i gave him a fish and then video him eating the fish.
Maybe i will go there for a walk next Wednesday and bring you some Komodo Dragon adventures...hehe :)
Thanks again for your lovely comment and the resteem and tip much appreciated :)
You don't need to bring me back a dragon! Holy moly! Just seeing that baby one gave me goosebumps. LOL!
No i am going to bring it to you like it or not i want to see them goosebumps raise higher , there is a dragon i saw down there last time that was big enough for me to ride i will see if he will let me ride him....hehe :)
As long as you throw a saddle on him and yell Ye-Haw, I will laugh it off! ;)
OMG! That is really goosebump territory!
Don't dare me i just might do it...haha :)
Oh, you would become a legend! LOL
If he doesn't eat me up :(
It is an extreme pleasure walking with you into this beautiful temple. It is the first time I see anything like that and I am very much impressed.

Amazing, grandiose architecture. The opulence and ostentation of it is kind of sensory overload. Terrific pictures and intriguing angles.
Thank you so much @momzillanc these Thai Temples definitely never disappoint you when it comes to grandiose architecture :)
