Wednesday walk, and a wet Wednesday - - Bottenintnin Lake Alaska
10-10-2018
Bottenintnin Lake Alaska
As you first pull down into the parking lot area this is pretty much the first view you get of the lake. The little depression there in the middle is the boat launching area. Bottenintnin Lake is an unimproved camping/day use area. In other words you need to make like a bear because there are no facilities to use.
Friday, 10-5-2018, we decided we were going to try and get one more drive in for Fall Photos. It was an overcast day lots of clouds and not very much sun when we set out. It did not really detract from the views that day.
Not a breeze at all, the lake was smooth as glass. The image above is from that little depression for launching small boats looking toward the southeast and the mountains.
There is a small trail that leads to the right along the lake, and the image below is a a picture I framed between two trees that were just the right distance apart to get a nice picture. Having a zoom lens would have been better, but with the pixel level of these new cameras, I was still able to make it look like the trees were just on the edge of the frame.
After about an hour we were getting ready to leave and continue our drive into the mountains when something across the water spooked a couple of swans. I only have the 35mm lens so not a very close up shot, but you can still see the two little specks of white reflecting in the picture. (slightly right of dead center)

That looks magical. Like some enchanted fairy tale scene. Do you all go out much in winter? I try to only go outside when necessary after it gets below 30 degree.
Well, we need to go out, we try to stock up a little bit for winter, but really I would go stir crazy so even a trip to the grocery store is good. We do go out for fun sometimes in the winter, but not a whole lot, we do not really like the cold, but after we have the two weeks of super cold in Nov or Dec, (minus teens or colder), 30 degrees feels quite balmy. Jan and Feb, just before winter ends tend to be the coldest overall months. Mostly in the minus single digits, occasionally in the minus teens.
I kind of enjoy hibernating in winter. We sometimes have single digits in Feb.
I like to stay in and burn the fireplace. I do enjoy watching the snow through the window lol.
I bet you will have fantastic pics when it is all icy and snow covered.
I lake those photos :D

Those are some amazing lake shots! I love the 2nd photo with the mountains reflected in the water, as well as the next one with the clouds. It is like the water is the perfect mirror for the sky to gaze upon itself.
It was a nice photo day despite all the clouds and the somewhat low light, but no breeze, that water was as still as could be.
howdy sir bashadow! wow that lake did indeed look like glass and those reflections! dang. But it will be frozen solid pretty soon won't it?
This is a wonderful post.
Yes it will, I have a picture, I think of me standing on the lake in Feb or March. It does take a little while for them to freeze enough to walk or snowmobile, or land take-off in a small plane, towards the middle of December, sometimes as late as January.
howdy again bashadow! wow I find it hard to imagine how a plane can land on ice and maintain any kind of control!
They have been fitting skis to planes pretty much since the beginning of airplanes. All the C-130 Hercules Aircraft that supply McMurdo in antartica have skis.

howdy sir bashadow! well I knew they had skis for water but I never thought about having them for ice and I still don't know how they keep from spinning around or going sideways! lol.
And I never knew that planes THAT big were fitted with skis! wow.
thanks for the education sir bashadow!
What a lovely spot and such beautiful photos
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk tip!
Superb photos my friend, loving the reflections.
Even for how cloudy and overcast it was a pretty nice day. The lake so flat and reflective like my wife said, some of the views looked like ink blot test.
