A snapshot from after Thanksgiving dinner...

Like the two years before, my family and I spent this last Thanksgiving in Mongolia instead of the United States. While the holiday isn't observed here (except for US expats like myself and the Canadian expats who have their own Thanksgiving day), you actually can find turkeys (Mongolia-grown even) in the store here now. They're rather expensive (even for being essentially 'organic') at well over $4/lb and they're on the small side... but since it's just not quite Thanksgiving without turkey I bite the bullet and buy it anyway. And yes, I put LOTS of bacon on it.

Interestingly enough, while most Mongolians don't know much or anything about Thanksgiving, it turns out 'Black Friday' IS a thing here and we are deluged with Black Friday advertisements. I almost find that amusing in a twisted, mildly depressing kind of way... ;)

hahahaha...just like in other festive celebration days to other cultures, no thanksgiving without turkey just like No Eid without Lontong/Rice Bar here in my hometown. and yeah.. though Indonesia has the most muslim community in the world, but "Black Friday" we have it also here ...LOL

Black Friday in Indonesia too? Makes one wonder just how widespread this consumer 'holiday' is around the world. If there's one thing America excels at, it's creating and re-creating ways to get people to buy more stuff, huh?

you know that very well @northwestnomad, the commercial reason behind every festives celebration in the world, right?
