Health Benefits of Drinking Water

Our bodies need sufficient water, but how much we drink of water can also have a big result on our health. Proper drinking water can help with good digestion and also an acid/alkaline balance. Either of these can make the difference between you enjoying good health and suffering!


Water does wonders for the body, and there is never a bad time to kick back and take a swig. Drinking plenty of water and hydrating your body is important because it is essential to your health.


There are countless health benefits for drinking water. You may already know this, but did you know that if you don't drink water and take in salt, your body may be at risk? Some people do not like the taste of water or they don't like how they have to go to the bathroom so often after drinking this fluid, but water is necessary. 


Study the following information to find out when is the best time of the day to drink water in order to maximize its effectiveness on your body.

First thing in the morning: Drink 2-3 cups of pure warm or room temperature water after your night of fasting. Drink as much as feels good. If you feel nauseous, do not continue to drink water. It is important that the water has nothing in it, so it passes through your system right away. If it contains anything at all, like lemon juice, it will stay in your stomach up to one hour, not going into cleansing mode. The water will clean your kidneys and bladder, and move waste from your stomach and colon. Prepare the stomach for food by refreshing the glands with water. Drink warm or hot water, as it is gentler on an empty stomach. 


Before a meal: Drink one glass of water 30 minutes before a meal to help digestion. Remember not to drink excessively, soon before or after a meal, as the water will dilute digestive juices in the body. Drink water an hour after a meal to allow the body to absorb the nutrients. When you drink water, it wakes up the taste buds and moisturizes the stomach lining, so brittle or acidic foods won’t be disagreeable to the body. Having a glass of water cleans out the mouth and clears out tastes from earlier foods, drinks, or smoking products. 


Drink Water When You’re Weary: If you’re in need of sleep, but you can't fall asleep, have a glass or two of water alternatively. Did you know that exhaustion is one of the signs of dehydration? With the ability to move rapidly through the body, water can reach your brain and give you the message that it is time to sleep. 


Headaches and Migraines: If you suffer from a migraine, the first thing that you can do to get comfortable is by drinking plenty of water. Headaches and migraines are often caused by dehydration. In a study published in the European Journal of Neurology, researchers found that increasing water intake helped reduce the total number of hours and intensity of headaches.


Drink Water Before a Workout: Depending on the temperature, humidity, and your body’s liquid levels, you may need one or two 8-ounce glasses of water to protect against dehydration during and after your workouts.


Detoxify your body: By drinking alkaline water, your body can't only remove toxins accumulated from bad eating, prescription drugs, stress and the environment, but it also slows down the aging process from our fast-paced lives.


Alkalize Your Body: Most of our diets consist of acidic foods like red meat, sugar, dairy, and processed substances. As a result, it unbalances our natural pH levels. These unnatural changes can lead us to getting sick or gaining weight. When you drink alkaline water, your body balances out the acidity restoring you to an optimal pH. As a result, you’ll feel healthier, more vibrant, and more energetic than ever before.


Strong Immune System: Alkaline water can enhance your immune system by creating a pure alkaline environment. When you’re acidic, you can get really sick, and even create an environment where cancer and other illnesses can grow. So by drinking alkaline water, you’re creating a pure, healthy oxygenated environment in your body where cancers and diseases struggle to develop.


Regular tap water will hydrate you just fine and save you a couple of bucks. A better idea? It is recommended to drink the amount of alkaline water your body requires. The quantity of water needed by the body differs from person to person, and it is usually suggested to drink to your thirst level.


The easiest way to start making the switch is with your drinking water, use the alkaline water filter and then start to consume more fruits and vegetable while tapering off acid foods. Making a few changes now and instilling good eating habits can yield huge dividends in the future.
