Sea of Oman Attack Benefits U.S. and Saudis
A recent attack on oil tankers near the Persian Gulf adds to the number of attacks on oil tankers in that region. The attacks get blame on Iran. But is Iran the actual perpetrator? Or is something else more likely?

Two ships reported problems a different times. One was carrying 75,000 tons of naphtha, and the other some methanol. The local radio signal between ships apparently relays information about a torpedo attack which resulted in the crew abandoning ship.
If that's the case, then a state power is surely behind it as torpedoes come from submarines. But maybe they were mistaken. The region is highly trafficked, with 40% of seaborne trade passing through the Straight of Hormuz.

One might think, "well look, there is Iran right there. It has to be them!"
But would Iran really attack tankers right there? What does that message send? No oil is safe to exit the crucial choke point without Iran's consent? are dumb enough to invite the war so strongly. Maybe they want to go down with a fight while they can. Hurt the oil flow and disrupt the price and supply of oil in the West.
The tensions aren't so high as a previous "Tanker War" in the 1980s where 259 oil tankers were attacked during the Iran-Iraq war. Both sides carried out attacks.
Crude oil prices have shot up since the news of the attack on Thursday. It seems to fit a "revenge" caricature of Iran who is being hurt by US sanctions. Are the authorities in Iran really going to do that though? Hmm.
Iran just freed a US resident who was imprisoned on espionage charges. That's a contrary move to someone who is out for revenge. Iran needs the sanctions gone. All the pro-American actions they take can decrease the US' wrath.
Rather than trying to get revenge or go out with the loudest impact they can make, it seems Iran is trying to get in the US' favor. Is Iran really trying to derail efforts to reduce tensions? Or does someone else have more to gain?
The warmongers and neocons of the US have been trying to get a war with Iran for decades. It was pretty high in the Bush administration of the 2000s. But they didn't get their way. Now that oil is being threatened, the warmongers get more fuel added to their fire, as do the oil sellers who have their prices go up.
The US and its allies are the more likely source of any deliberate attacks on tankers as I see it. What do you think? Is this the initial mini false flag preparation for a larger false flag incident, like false pretext for war?

I didn't follow that story, there was a boat that removed an exploded or unexploded sea mine?
Yes. According to some local news I read (and different news I delivered in the morning the day after), there was an Iranian boat attempting to remove something that looks like an unexploded floating mine. It was early in the morning. An american helicopter photographed it if I remember correctly. So hard to tell which parts are true.
