The War is in Our Mind
Every day we live with war and we accept war. It permeates the workings of our government, the machinery of our remaining industrial plants, and rings in patriotic platitudes we are taught to memorize through repetition. It stalks our young, maims our brave, and robs the coffers of our grandchildren. We ignore what it steals from our country and our integrity out of respect for its vain destruction. In doing so it withers our streets, fills up our hospitals with the sick and oppressed, and sleeps in the decay of our daydreams.
On September 11 we remember the 16 years since the drums of war started to beat, and we have been taught to dance to this rhythm every day since. A slow dance, like steps when you are walking to work, or school, or kneeling down to pray. When you have worn down the rut so long you no longer think there are other paths. But there are other paths. Paths to get out of this culture of war, debts, and myths of a once great nation.
Think about the war that is in your mind. It's waiting there for someone to talk to.
Great post, food for thought as they say. It's true that we ignore or grow accustomed to war. We kinda hop from one incident to another and it is like "War" has lost its meaning, isn't on the trending pages anymore. I guess that is why we don't give it much thought anymore.

I remember that day very well....and since then we've been in perpetual war. It's already WW3....people just don't know it.
I hadn't thought about it that way, but now that you say it, yeah, that makes sense.
