Who is Simon and Abbey Visitors Walking On Water...

The second #walkwithme this week, we have it all; dropping into the misty abyss and walking on water!

Well Steemers as promised the second walk for the week. I was shattered on Monday and was not ready for work but to get two walks in over the weekend was a cracking effort on my behalf. Of course I benefited but so do you, I hope.

So a little history of this walk all starting in the 1800's.

First we visit Simons seat! Although there is no firm story as to where the name comes from, legend has it a poor shepherd found a baby up there and took him in. The shepherd called him Simon; being too poor to look after him the local shepherds looked after the baby together. The decedents of this boy now live in the local village.

Then walking down to the Abbey was travel through desolation valley. Although the names paints a more dramatic picture than the true history of the great storm of 1826. However it actually a stunning valley as you'll see, plus they have recently plant 8000 trees; always a winner in my book!

So lets get rolling...

We start next to a wonderful bridge, frankly a cracking parking spot.

Off on the walk and we are straight into the wonderful and beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire dales.

The River Wharfe looking spectacular!

Our first stop and you can see the hill which we are heading up...

The Bridges around here are cracking rather quaint don't you find?

Pure Yorkshire Dales, the dry stone walls and rolling hills. My home country although have not spent much there.

Ahhh what a refreshing view ...

Rolling woodland; this place is like heaven to me. Ohh some wild camping to be done here in the future!

Grrr blooming corporate woods 🖕🏼

Just look at this, sorry i'm just loving this nature porn!

Tiny bit of snow still up here brrr.

And we made it to 'Simons Seat'

Whoa thats a drop and a half!

Grouse!

You are now entering 'Desolation Valley'!

Hungry work hey; time for a lunch stop!

More nature porn for you! Just love waterfalls, I could have spent hours here just listening and meditating. But the groups walking on!

He's a character hey?

We made it out of desolation valley alive yippee!

Here is Bolton Priory, impressive hey?

It even allows people to walk on water!

Here are a few shots in and around the Priory.

The fountain! We don't have enough water features these days.

Its all the rage in the UK at the moment to have walks with children's books themes. To be honest I love it, todays's the nursery rhyme the plate and the spoon (something like that anyways).

The local bar. (Its actually a mobile bar cracking)!

A stunning stop on the river.

The last bridge for today.

And were done a fresh pint!

I really love your walking tours!

Thanks love doing them! Better than watching TV haha 💯🐒

I just loved your walk. You cover everything from buildings to waterfalls and the bridges. The old Priory is very unusual. The moss and old stone walls translate to places here I have been. Can’t have too many stone walls or bridges or places to rest. Are you doing ok? Just taking a couple of days to yourself?
Hope all is well. You are my favorite monkey man you know. 🐓🐓

Thank you a pleasure to have you along. Yer I didn't know it existed until Sunday. Me I'm great, had a few days of flu and not caught up yet. Trying to post more but that sacrifices reading. Favourite monkey man ☺️? How many have you got haha? I am honoured to be so! Your monkey man 💯🐒
