Today, my walk through the January dusk on a snowy embankment. When I have free time and no hurry, we always go on city embankments. In St. Petersburg many such similar places. Even the frigid air and wind can't spoil this walk.

Winter night comes very quickly. It is interesting to observe how the city is plunged into darkness . Smoothly lit street lamps, neon signs and building illumination.

The city becomes similar to a Mirage. Unusual colors of water, sky and snow make it very mysterious.

I already talked about the fact that our town is called North Venice. Those who read my blog probably remember my story about that. Saint Petersburg has 33 Islands. But once upon a time, when just beginning the construction of the city, there were more than 100 Islands. Over time the city was reconstructed and built new buildings. Part of the reservoirs and channels were filled with earth. So their number became less.

All the Islands can be divided into three categories. One of the Islands - the Islands where many streets, houses and various public buildings and many urban infrastructure. The second group of Islands are places where different enterprises and industrial zones. Access to some of these places may be restricted. Сегодня моя прогулка по январским сумеркам и по снежной набережной. Когда появляется свободное время и некуда спешить, то мы всегда идём на городские набережные. В Санкт-Петербурге много таких подобных мест. Даже морозный воздух и ветер не смогут омрачить такие прогулки. Зимой тёмное время суток наступает очень быстро. Интересно наблюдать то, как город погружается во тьму . Плавно зажигаются уличные фонари, неоновая реклама и подсветка зданий. Город становится похожим на мираж. Необычные оттенки воды, неба и снега делают его очень таинственным.
Я уже говорила о том, что наш город называют North Венеция. Те, кто читал мой блог, наверняка помнят мой рассказ об этом. Санкт-Петербург имеет 33 острова. Но когда-то давно, когда только начиналось строительство этого города, то их было более 100 островов. С течением времени город всё больше реконструировался и застраивался новыми зданиями. Часть водоёмов и проток была засыпана землёй. Поэтому их количество стало меньше.
Все острова можно условно разделить на три категории. Одна часть островов - это острова, где много улиц, жилых домов и различных общественных зданий и множество городской инфраструктуры. Вторая группа островов - это места, где сконцентрированы различные предприятия и промышленные зоны. Доступ на некоторые из таких мест может быть ограничен. На третьей категории островов расположены парки, сады, архитектурные ансамбли, зоны отдыха и развлечений.
Сейчас мы находимся на Васильевском острове. Мы решили прогуляться по набережной Лейтенанта Шмидта. Это один из центральных и старинных районов города. Здесь можно очень близко увидеть краны судостроительного завода. Работа на Адмиралтейских верфях ведётся вне зависимости от сезонов. Здесь строят и ремонтируют корабли.
Навигация давно закончена. Река Нева сейчас уже частично покрылась льдом. Все суда встали на свою зимнюю стоянку или ушли в дальние рейсы. Но, на некоторых из них жизнь не останавливается даже в зимнее время. Эта двухмачтовая шхуна в зимнее время служит тренировочной учебной базой для молодых моряков. Летом они отправятся в дальний поход.
На улице уже совсем стемнело и мы отправляемся домой. Уличные фонари разгораются всё ярче и ярче. Приятный зимний вечер.
