16 and Overs to be Able to Vote by 2022

Finally, a long standing partition of controversy in the political realm is being ironed out, and that is the question of whether teenagers can be trusted to vote in elections. Cabinet Secretary Alun Davies has announced that plans to reform the local voting regulations will be implemented early into the next decade by allowing younger people to vote for their constituency representative in local Welsh elections. Also stating he plans on allowing non UK resident who legally live and pay tax in Wales to be able to vote too, due to their economical contribution.

This development comes after years of youth trying to express their capabillity to ascertain political organisations, events and operations, the Government has finally decided that we are capable of voting now without misconstruing public opinion. Now more than ever young people are intelligent and aware about their political environments due to social media and increasing alienation between state and individual. Many teenagers have valid political opinions and it's essential that we respect the opinions of societies mature minds.

This should encourage voting processes to become more democratic as the result will be more dependent upon a larger demographic, and therefore will consequently be more representative of the voting populace. This will mean that legislation will be more considerate of all of those relevant to its application, and that younger people will feel more respected and valued by their government. This will be majorly beneficial to low turnout constituencies, and will help young people to be more aware and interested in what is being done to secure a better future for themselves.

Brecon Cultural Center Blows Through Cash

Y Gaer is a new project that is being developed in Brecon in the county of Powys to bring the community a place to congregate, organise events and enjoy themselves together. The cultural center will be featuring a library, a cafe, community sections and function rooms for residents and visiting people to encourage more community activity and development. However the £10.4 million budget provided by multiple contributors and the Heritage Lottery Fund has fallen short of it's target, with another £2.6 million being needed to complete the project. Hopefully the council will be able to source the funds for it's completion as such projects are beneficial for both local economies and communities, and will be greatly developmental for the area of Brecon.

Fantastic news for teenagers. Lowest turnout usually below 50% in most areas for council elections. Hopefully this will enable the youth to get involved in politics

I hope so, I'm only just allowed to vote at 18 but would of liked to have the privilege years ago. Turnout in my constituency is at 34.6% lower than Wales' average, and I think this will make a difference here no doubt.

100%. Depending what party you support I find theres a lack of candidates available due to lack of people attending local party meetings.

Young feet needed desperatly at these and although you may not be able to vote your input could be invaluable with reaching younger voters
