So VRs are apparently better than drugs

Right now we are looking further and further into using VRs for something other than pleasures of gaming. One of many such applications will be nothing else than pain relief.
World knows a little bit too much about the whole America-wide opiate problem. Virtual Reality might be one of answers actually. Seems that patients suffering from high-degree burns report significant pain reduction if put into the VRs not to mention it seems to be working better than morphine!
Problem here lies in the procedures that patients need to undergo during the treatment. Every day a burn victim needs ointments to be rubbed onto their skin which is professionally regarded as one of the most painfull medical treatments. VRs can help you to not only put your focus elsewhere it can actually soothe the pain by placing you in a snowy/chilly environments.
Dunno bout you I just love how VRs are able to cheat pretty much everything that is your perception

Nice to see technology being used in this way!
I could definitely see this working, distraction is a powerful tool and the right VR games could demand your full attention. The only problem is that the patients have to stay still, and in my experience the most engaging VR games involve quite a bit of movement.
