Sleeping Volcano

I wrote a little story about a boy named Lanre, who suffers abuse at the hands of his guardian. You might be wondering what I mean by a sleeping volcano. While thinking over the appropriate title for this story, two things came to mind, a sleeping dragon and a sleeping volcano. Though sleeping dragon felt more appropriate, sleeping volcano sounded better. Every child being abused is like a sleeping volcano waiting to erupt one day. When it does, it's effects and the disaster it would bring cannot be curtailed or contained.

The story is segmented into Seven parts and I'll start posting it soon. Anticipate it!

In the mean time, here's a little poem I wrote, also titled Sleeping volcano.

You stomp your feet upon the rock and shout.
To prove your strength and power?
The rock may yet look cool without
Yet you know not what brews within it yonder.

It burns with fiery anger
And when the time is right
The sleeping volcano will erupt like thunder.
Burning you out of sight.

Uncontained and uncurtailed,
It may burn others and not even you.
Unloved and abused and if unrehabilitated,
An abused child would abuse others too,
