How To Start Vlogging in 2020!

in #vlogging5 years ago

At the starting of 2019, I made up my mind that I would start Vlogging. I got inspired by so many Youtubers like Irfan Junejo, and obviously there were many active Steemians uploading great videos on Dtube as well. This motivated me to go ahead create video content. I was already making decent money doing small freelancing jobs related to Digital Marketing and Content Creation. So I thought, why not go ahead and start a vlogging channel on Youtube.

Vlogging is getting popular with each passing year. It's the most simple way to show people what you are upto. Vlogging is a form of expression that can help a creator explore their creativity and at the same time, create content for their audience which can be unique, entertaining and exciting. Today, I am going to share some tips on how to start vlogging in 2020:

  • Learn The Lingo: When you are starting something new, it's always good have the knowledge of the lingo that is being used. For example, frames, shots, broll, aroll, color correction, color grading, aperture, ISO, composition, vlog. These terms will help you understand the field a little better. Also, it can help you while you are searching for specific tutorials on something you want to try or do not know. Just imagine if you do not know what to search, you will not be able to find what you are looking for.

  • Copy Other Renowned Vloggers: There is no univesity in the world that will teach you how to vlog. When you are just starting, you might face the infamous creator's block. Copying other vloggers will help you. This doesn't mean, you will start copying their content, you will def get a copyright strike. Copy the style, copy the method and develop your own with time.

  • Fake The Confidence: When I shot my first video, I was like a lamb ready to be cut and served on a plate. I shot it like 10 times more until I learnt how to fake it till you make it. If you are not confident, why would the viewer listen to you or watch your thing. Overtime, you will have notice more conviction in your speech and delivery. As they say, practice makes a man perfect so keep practicing until it becomes a part of your soul.

  • Story Is The Most Important Thing: In any video, content is the king. Story matters the most. Not the camera you are using, or the editing software or life you are living. Even a boring sequence can be shot with lots of creativity. Viewers should be able to connect the dots. Each shot should be an integral part of the story you want to tell. If your story is on point, rest of the things will not matter much.

  • Audio Is The Second Most Important Thing: A video with crappy audio will never perform better than the crappy video with good audio. I have four powerful microphones that can be used for different scenarios. I shoot with my smartphone but never use its internal microphone. It's not great hence I am using external mics to nail the audio.

  • Know Your Content: It's easier to shoot, edit and deliver when you know what your output should look like. I always plan 4 videos ahead. This helps me to focus on other important things and maintain consistency.

  • Make Series Or Playlists: Series is the best way to ensure that a viewer might watch more than one video. As they finish the first video, there is a good chance they will head to the next one. Create multiple vlogs on one topic or probably related topics. This will not only create a strong protfolio but good for the progress of the channel. More watch time = Quick Growth.

  • Develop Your Style Overtime: Copying others will not work in the long run. Slowly and steadily you have to develop your own shooting and editing style. Because people are going to subscribe for the person and keep coming back to your channel to watch you. Hence, creating your own method will bring you long term repeat subs.

  • Final Tip: Hardest thing to do is to start. Start TODAY since there is no tomorrow. Get out of your comfort zone. Go out and do some things - Keep your camera rolling while doing them.

I hope the above tips will help you gain some motivation. We all know that video content is the future. 2020 is going to be an amazing year for everyone who wants to express using Audio and Visual mediums. So, what are you waiting for? ;) Go ahead and do it!!!!
