THIS IS WHY I LOVE PROPAGATING PLANTS

in #vlog6 years ago

Even when I have to pay for plants that someone else propagated, I still find this exciting!

Plant propagation, especially edible plants, can be a very rewarding experience. Check out this Currant that I just purchased through the mail.

CHECK IT OUT!

That tiny four inch segment that I have circled in the photo above was a cutting from an established plant. From one node on that section it appears that an entire new plant was able to grow. Some new roots grew downward and some new branches and leaves grew upward!

Just look at all of that new growth that came from just one tiny "stick!" This shows the powerful potential of understanding plant propagation. One mature plant can potentially provide you with hundreds of new plants. Whether you're looking to grow more of your own food or whether you're trying to supplement your income or find a home based business, knowledge like this can go a long way. Check out this vlog for more info and to hear first hand how exciting things like this are to me.

THE EXCITING WORLD OF PLANT PROPAGATION!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

I am a little disturbed by the uncensored plant propagation photos!

NSFW ..... lol

Absolutely! lol

Yes! More people need to know this kind of information. So many plants can easily be multiplied and shared or sold.

One of the best ways to multiply currant plants is with a technique called mound layering. Sometime this is called stool layering too. This is the technique I use for my currant bushes.

Basically you cut a plant back to just above the ground while it is dormant. Then as the new shoots grow, cover them with soil. Roots will form on the new growth. Separate the new individual plants after one growing season, during the next dormant season.

Works well with many bushy types of plants.

Good luck and may all your cutting sprout!

Oh yes, layering is an excellent propagation method too!

Coming back to watch the video later.

Once we get out on our own homestead, I hope to propagate several varieties of plants!

Good initiative to grow your own plant buds, there is nothing like the natural, to conserve the environment .. I congratulate you.
I invite you to visit my profile ..

it's good to see the emotion and love you have for your land, it gives a special energy to nature in your life, only those with a good heart ask about it! Happy afternoon

It is great to see what you are doing in your villa, without doubt a beautiful plant will grow full of exquisite fruits.
I wish you a great day dear friend @ papa-pepper

That is one huge growth. Different nodes growing from that finger length cutting. $300 is quite huge too. I think I like this...hahahaha. It has the ability to reproduce into several others.

Papa always on work and discovering weldon sir

I can see where in the future you could have a very successful plant nursery. We are just starting ours but we mostly do tropical fruit trees. We have a large demand for papaya...
