RE: One Yeti's Perspective 2-5-18: Did Jesus have MORE purpose than we think
I appreciate that you contemplate things of the Scripture. However I would urge you to reconsider whether is it possible to be close to Christ without being close to Christianity. There is, of course, a ton of so-called Christian movements that are not at all of Christ. But Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. It becomes us to seek out what it that church he said he would build and unite with it.
I wrote my daily walk with God on this subject today. I will post it in a week or so.
Blessings.
Yeah, I don't know. Christianity is a label and not so much an accurate representation of the Church or the Body. It has been adulterated by the world and currupted to the point of almost completely undoing Jesus' message. To say that someone is a faithful believer in Jesus shouldn't make them a Christian per se, as much as labeling ourselves simple as Christians means we love Jesus. It is about God meeting us where we are. If someone needa a brick and mortar building and a label to feel secure in their belief I completely support. If someone told me that they Love Jesus but don't support the B and M steucture and labels I support that also.
I support everyone's right to worship God according to the dictates of their own conscience. But there are some warnings a person ought to take seriously. One of them being that Jesus is the only way to heaven and the Bible is the only way to Jesus. Christ gave the disciples a threefold commission: 1. To teach all nations (concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ) 2. Baptize those who believe that gospel (that is a local, physical event) 3. Teach those who have believed and are baptized to observe (means practice and obey) all things whatsoever Jesus commanded. We should not pick and choose through the Bible those things we agree with and those things we take issue with. We need to practice and obey (as we understand them) all things we are taught in the Bible.
