Vice Token not airdropping to Steem holders anymore!

in #vit6 years ago

After they have announced that they will airdrop Vice Industry tokens or so called VIT to all Steem holders in their first post on the Steem blockchain:

Four billion tokens will be generated, with two billion made available in the crowdsale and 200,000 air dropped to Steem holders on the Steem blockchain. The remaining 1.8 billion will be held by Vice Industry Token Inc.

They have now changed their minds!

@viceindustry has not posted anything about this yet, I don't know if they are going to do it here on Steemit, where people can speak their minds about them without much censure (except the flags but which can not be so big), but they have disclosed this in an email from their own address: [email protected].

Here is a part of the content of the email that I have received from them today:

Throughout the crowdsale, people have asked why we continue to support Steem when we no longer planned to become a Steem Smart Media Token. We were planning to airdrop VIT to Steem holders. Today we announce that we will no longer be supporting any airdrop to Steem holders. After careful consideration, the Vice Industry Token management team and advisors decided unanimously through consensus that VIT will instead reward only direct participants of the VIT crowdsale.

And some thoughts of their CEO:

“It is the smart thing to do. It is the right thing to do”, said Stuart Duncan, CEO of VIT. “We did not see any necessity to reward people not involved directly with the crowdsale. However, I see a great necessity in rewarding our direct supporters, especially our early supporters. This Super Bonus goes a long way to rewarding participation in an attention economy utility token in its infancy. Rewarding active participants of the VIT crowdsale rewards people whose incentives are aligned perfectly with our own.”

That was Stuart Duncan CEO of VIT

Review

What seems pretty unfair (or not) for the Steem holder who were promised to be airdropped some VIT (and I was pretty excited because I don't have many crypto and this would have diversified my portfolio), but this is not so good from them as a company, because they lose their trust this way.

When a company declares something and in just two months, they change their minds completely, it is very unlikely for them to build trust anymore. In this case they do not airdrop VIT to Steem holders because they want to give a bonus VIT to the contributors of the project. This strategy seems very bad in my opinion (but I am not a marketing expert, I am just a guy writing his thoughts) because they lose their customers trust, while showing signs of weakness in the financial field.

If they want to motivate the investors to contribute to the ICO, why they don't give up on a part of their pie?

If you take a look of their whitepater (which is short enough that you can read one night before going to sleep because just half of it is true content, while the other half is the presentation of the team and also part of the site FAQ), you will see that they have not updated it yet:

If they are so good guys, why they don't share coins from their own part, since the rest of unsold tokens will be distributed to themselves too, which will make it a more centralized currency.

Again this seems pretty shady to me, and if before I was tempted to buy because of their originality and the fact that the idea itself was pretty promising, now seeing their economic moves and how few they have raised, well... I feel discouraged.

Again, don't base on what I say, I am just trying to be helpful, but I must be misinterpreting the current signs. They can be aborting the project as long as the ICO finishes or it could be successful and in this case you will be receiving more tokens because you bought early in the game :D

If we consider the current amount of ETH invested at its current price, the market cap of VIT would be around 14.5 million dollars. It seems a lot, but for the crypto world, they wouldn't even be able to make it in the top 100. Here are the last positions according to coinmarketcap:

I was sorry too to hear that it got canceled, it would have been good to have some additional coins in our portfolios...

Why not i will give it a shot , the market going down strong in the next few week i will try something new

I don't trust these guys enough to invest my money now, but you can do as you want :)
