The Archaic Art of MUSH

As Ive mentioned in other posts of mine I am a pretty big fan of the online text art form of multi user shared hallucinations (mush) in short.

Today I would like to go over some fundamentals of mush, ie the concepts within and maybe some of why I find them so enjoyable to both participate in and more recently create one of my own.

A mush from the start in simple terms is just a text based virtual world in which the locations, other players, objects and npcs that you interact with are given to you in a described format from there it is up to your imagination to conjure what they really look like.

So if I walk into a room I will likely be presented with the room name and the description of the room, as well as what other objects and people are in the room with me. Possibly something like this:

Pretty straight forward right? We can also make out at the very bottom any obvious exits that exist in the room we are in. From here we have a number of options, as you will have learned if you caught my @libdus announcement there is a really cool command called emote that lets you portray your character as doing something, in that you get to write out the message of the thing that you would like them to do. The emote and they say command go hand in hand to allow you to craft your character into a fully live and vibrant creature of whatever world you might be playing in. Of course along with many other commands as well.

One of the biggest things that excites me about this art form is the the width and breadth of creativity that it allows, basically if you can imagine something and describe it then you can have it in your world and share it with others.

Ill be bringing you more posts like this in the near future.
For now Thank you for reading and have a great day!
