ICO review - Viewly - Decentralized Video Platform
Viewly wants YouTube creators to switch sides. It will be more humane platform for creators and viewers alike. Quality should rise to the top and spam will stay in the muck. I can already imagine tasty beer review videos!
Most important bits:

- peer-to-peer content delivery network - if you have spare resources you can earn view tokens
- YOU decide which creator gets the best prize
- payments to the deserving parties are instant and digital
- part of the revenue goes to democratically elected community projects
- no censorship by the Establishment
Final goal is for Viewly to become Decentralized autonomous organization - an ambitious goal but one that can succeed with the advent of crypto economy.

The Whitepaper
32 pages long and a bit daunting in complexity for me as a layman. But here are some of the ideas that caught my attention.

Two questions catch your attention early on and Viewly wants to be the one to say yes to both.
1. Is it possible to build a decentralized video platform that doesn't obsessively track its users just to serve them pesky ads?
2. Is it possible to create sustainable monetization models for content creators by leveraging the blockchain technology?
Viewly will be attractive to the vast majority of YouTubers who are successful but are not in the very top echelon. Supposedly, small and medium creators will be less dependant on the huge number of viewers which is directly tied to their ad revenue.
Viewly wants to take a huge advantage of patronage model. Different tiers of options that can either be free or come with a certain VIEW token cost. People should be much more willing to release crypto micropayments than deal with fiat transfers which by itself could cost more than the service you are provided with.
Steemit is a big inspiration behind Viewly and ‘upvoting’ system should work more or less the same. However, VIEW tokens need to be bought by viewers before they can be awarded to content creators.
No new tokens will be minted To interact you will need to have a certain amount of VIEW but not all the options would be priced, just the premium ones, as decided by the content creator.
I had the most trouble understanding proof-of-storage and how people can take advantage of delegating their hosting capabilities. If I understand correctly, the aim is to reduce massive costs of storing such a huge database in one location or one provider. Tech savvy among you will understand the algebra in the whitepaper.

What if YouTube takes the changing tides seriously and just steals Viewly’s ideas? They would have the upper hand then. However, big monopolies are resistant to change. I doubt it would happen so easily.
At the end, easily missed opportunity. There is a small BONUS being handed out to pre-ICO investors, just check your registered e-mail. Good luck!
It is a gamble about these ICO's and the token price is quite expensive. If somebody really has a nerve to risk their money then go ahead, life is a gamble anyways.

With the recent changes taken by YouTube this could bode very well for viewly
Two things to consider. Firstly, would be very good if you get some creators to start using view.ly instead of youtube. I'd aim at alt-right content creators since they have the biggest issue with youtube censorship and demonetization. Secondly, what about dtbue. How view.ly is better? How it can beat dtube? Isn't the problem already solved by dtube and since it is more connected to steemit, wouldn't people just use that?
