Video Editing - What a Pain!

in #video6 years ago

I just wanted to let you all know that I have great respect for the people out there producing video content that they have refined and edited. I enjoy making videos to post on the web or provide to friends/family, but man, I hate video editing, and I am bad at it!

I have a Sony Action Cam, which is similar to a Go Pro. I have made a handful of published videos with it, but more often have filmed decent content, and then never created a video, as the time and effort did not seem worth the trouble. For me, it often takes too much time, and is too big a headache.

I probably need to get some professional help to show me how to edit videos faster and better, and then perhaps it will not be so painful to create video content. Instead of having fun with the entire process, I end up dreading editing the video.

I have found that my most successful editing has been when I use a desktop computer, but I have phased that out in our house in favor of laptops (which are getting old) and Ipads (which are hard to use to edit), compounding on my already painful experience. Spending hundreds of $$ to buy new things to create videos that might get seen by a hundred people (if I’m lucky) doesn’t seem practical either.

I have been holding out hope that the makers of “action cams” will be able to improve downloading/transferring/editing videos so that it is easier and more streamlined so that the video refinement process is less painful for all, and I feel like I can actually share my video content.

Sorry to whine and rant about my personal problems, but I have some good content I want to share with you all, but I am just dragging my feet at the moment as video editing is painful process for me…

Maybe this is the week I get a few new videos published! Key word being “maybe”.

Any advice out there for a video editing amateur like me?

Thanks,

Brian

Just like my YouTube channel I don’t edit but my videos are still pretty good and sometimes I use my GoPro and it works good.

Wow never knew video production and editing was so stressful. I really commend people doing it out there

Editing is super hard work...

All the youtubers deserve the money and fame 100%

I think I'm going to join you and I'll see what people who know how to edit videos recommend, I'm bad doing it I do not know how to do it in a photo and I do not have a good phone or camera to progress

Hello Friend how are you? I do not get along very well with the videos I like to edit the pictures I think it's much easier the videos take some time for that I know they use some good program on the PC or on the cell phone, although I think that the PC is more practical

Friend I'm not very good at technology, I only use the pc and it's the only use I give him I'm not a lover of taking pictures or videos that makes me very difficult, I prefer to write and read on that if I'm very good hahaha

I have done very little video editing as I don't consider myself to be good at it. I agree that the people who do it well have a special talent. I have tried to learn some different software but find myself spending a lot of time fiddling and I'm not a fan of fiddling. have had my most success with video editing using my old iMac. I find that Apple has some very easy to use tools to get the job done. M students are becoming quite proficient at using iMovie on the iPads.
