Fighting For A Better Way Of Life In Venezuela

in #venezuela7 years ago

The situation in Venezuela continues to deteriorate by the day.

People in the country have been dealing with food shortages, medical shortages, runaway inflation, increasing crime, and worse. It's typical to find hundreds standing in bread lines, just trying to purchase their daily necessities.

In the midst of the ongoing political storm, at least 3000 protesters have already been detained and the details of their treatment behind bars would be conditions that you'd expect to find in any fascist hellhole. Those arrested have alleged that officers have beaten them, tortured them with electric shocks, and worse.

Over the last few years, many who've had the means to have left the country entirely; Venezuelans seeking asylum increased 160 percent in 2016.

In the last couple of years, the socialist government in Venezuela has received millions of passport requests as many are still trying to get out of the country, and the rush has reportedly caused a shortage which even the President has acknowledged.

They introduced an online solution to the problem recently, for a higher price, and it's meant to assist the growing passport demand but the site has allegedly been frequently crashing and ineffective as a solution for some.

There are still millions who don't have the means to leave and they are somewhat trapped in this continually worsening situation. Protests continue to take place around the country and there has already been a number of deaths thanks to an escalation in demonstrations, there has been loses for not only protesters but also for the security and police forces as well as for Maduro supporters.

Pro-government supporters think that the protesters are agitators and that the civil disobedience is some US-backed conspiracy to take down the country. For many on the street, they just say that they are tired of the socialist rule, the worsening economic conditions, and one of their demands is that they want a new presidential election to be held.

The international world is watching and many sympathize with those who are struggling against what they perceive to be a dictator and an oppressive system; who are trying to make a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

Can u believe people actually want this type of system in america?

Yup, and that in article after arricle leave out that socialism has been the fall of Venezuela. People are not going to work for free. When the government started taking crops grown by farmers for distribution it was over for Venezuelan. If the government would stop robbing people stuff would work out.

Very informative post. Shed light on the world where people may not pay much attention to.

Venezuela is a sad example of the acute need to change the world we live in. Like North Korea and other countries led by people unable to lead. I'm sorry for millions of people suffering innocent people in the world.

keep fighting for your dreams :)

The media wasnt really covering a lot recently. Thanks for sharing, i wonder how "Maduro" in any way can believe that he is making it through. Met a couple Venezuelian guys, all highly educated well mannered. Such a beautiful country as well.

Thanks for keeping us informed doitvoluntarily

It is sad reading this kind of news about a country that has no reason being in this kind of shape if things were well done from the beginning. I do hope that someday, the people of Venezuela will unit and drive the needed change.

omg! this must be a very difficult time for them..
