Bartering And Growing For Survival In Venezuela
The economic situation in Venezuela has continued to worsen for the last several years, with many in the region struggling to afford the basic necessities to get by. They've suffered frequent power outages, perpetual protests and civil unrest, crackdowns on liberty from the state, empty shelves and empty hospitals.
Some have taken to weaving the national currency into artwork, to sell on the streets to try and survive. You can find things like wallets, backpacks, and other items, being made with hyper-inflated fiat dollars. Thousands of them are still fleeing regularly to try and find a better life elsewhere.
Consumer prices have risen more than 40,000 percent annually.
As the economy has continued to spiral out of control the people have increasingly turned to alternative solutions, among them are cryptocurrencies and bartering as a way to try and make exchanges for what it is that they need.
For years now, people in the region have been bartering for goods and services, they are also connecting online through social media sites and other forums to try and exchange with those who might have something that they need.
Bartering fish for supplies to survive and opting to grow their own.
The people there have been trying to find a way to meet their needs in peaceful and creative ways, trying to connect with one another in an effort to simply survive. There are now a growing number of agro-ecological projects to be found in the region that are trying to get food to those who need it, but there is still a great need. The people there are still suffering, many have to go without as they struggle with severe food shortages.
Some reports suggest that it's now become seemingly impossible to run a business in the region, with the frequent price changes and power outages, which is why many have either been forced to shutdown or they've gone and relocated elsewhere. Venezuela might be among the hardest places in the world to be an entrepreneur right now, aside from war-torn regions elsewhere in the world, and we can see what sort of standard of living that environment provides for the people, it's deteriorated everything that they know.
Yeah food should be respected.
