De Havilland Mosquito - A *VERY RARE* Plane!
Only 2 remain in flying condition, and I got to photograph one!
The mosquito was a feat of engineering ingenuity in that it was an all-wood design, mostly comprising of plywood, balsa and birch! Metals were scarce at the time during the war, so they were tasked with finding another way. The Mosquito was very successful at delivering the same bomb-loads that the bigger B-17s could carry. The twin Merlin engines (same as what the P-51 Mustangs use) pulled it to over 400mph, and was one of the fastest aircraft flying during the war! (And boy, do they sound SWEET!)

Taxiing past us
This was one of two left flying, and it treated us to a great static and air demo during the Warbirds Over Monroe show last year.

Love these planes, use to see them a lot at airshows when I was a kid. Great images.
Hopefully, they start rebuilding one in the UK soon. Miss the soundtrack!
Thank you! They sure sound great on a fly-by!
