Vegan Wednesday Week #17 - Burgers are possible with impossible burgers

Ate these burgers this week and I'm still a vegan!!!

I've heard a lot recently of a meatless burger called the Impossible Burger from Impossible Foods. Well, I got to try them at two different spots this week here in NJ. The first was at a pub/tavern called "The Office". It tasted great!!! I now can enjoy a burger without feeling guilty. The flavor, texture, and taste were all amazing. The waiter said that "it bleeds" like a real burger. This sounded a bit gross, and I think they should just say it's juicy and pink like a meat-based burger.

My second taste happened at of all places, White Castle!! This chain is known for bite-sized greasy burgers that you have after a night of drinking. I ate 2 of them in the middle of the day and no drinking was involved. They actually tasted better than the original White Castle burgers.

At both establishments, I asked for my burgers without cheese as I'm vegan. They would have been even better with some rich melty cheese, but I'm not complaining. Now I have 2 spots to get my burger cravings satisfied. I think they actually sell this plant-based meat in supermarkets, so I'll have to try that and cook up my own burgers.

This is so awesome, I can't believe they sell vegan burgers! The change is real 😊

They are marketed as vegetarian, as they come with cheese, but easy enough to ask them to skip it to make it vegan.

Hey @popsoz! I was so excited to see this! I have been wanting someone to tell me about these burgers since I did that research essay on vegan burgers a little while back ;)

Are you saying they actually serve these at White Castle? That just blows my mind but I LOVE IT!

If you go onto the website of Impossible Burger or Beyond Meat Burger they have location services in their menu to show you where they sell them and what online companies they work with so you could even have them delivered ;)

Yes - At first it seemed weird that White Castle would have Impossible Burgers, but I think it makes sense for them as well as other restaurants. They're not really catering to the vegan crowd, but to their core customers that would like to lower their intake of meat. This gives people a (at least perceived) healthier choice. In any event - it's good to see this trend continue and now I have a few more places to enjoy when I don't feel like cooking my own food.

PS - The burgers were really good and I'm already craving more:)

Awwww I like your thinking! I completely agree! Maybe full vegan is a huge stretch but having the option certainly makes a difference and I think that moving forward it would be smart for most businesses to at least offer this. <3 Happy to hear that they tickled your fancy because I have high hopes for them showing people how good vegan can be ;)
