I think juicing is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and now more than ever. Our bodies have to cope with more toxins and the nutritional value of the products declined over the last 20 years.

Because of modern horticulture methods such as hydroponics, chemical fertilizers, new varieties of crops through interbreeding, longer storage times and long distance transports of unripe produce and exhausted soil through monoculture, you have to eat ten times the amount than back in those days.

Add to that timely constraints, it costs me an hour to eat a big bowl of salad, and you will be soon convinced of the benefits.

Serves 2

4 carrots
1 girlie handful of parsley
2 sticks celery
½ lemon

The lemon makes this a very refreshing juice, and the creamy and sweet bouquet of the carrots is offset by the natural saltiness of the celery.

Wash and peel the vegetables and fruits. Unpeeled carrots and lemons add a slightly bitter taste.

A good technique to peel lemons and citruses is using a paring knife and shown next.

Put the ingredients into the juicer of your liking.

Start with the parsley as it yields the least amount of juice, followed by soft produce and finish with the hardest vegetables.

Loss of ~ 10% nutritients and the insoluble fiber through juicing not included.

Everything can be home made, as long as you have the right tools, not everybody has f.e. a sou vide machine at home. so I see the benefits of being independent of the tools and prefer cooking like our ancestors did. By the way, just saw that sou vide became affordable since the last time I checked, slowly I can open a restaurant at my flat :)

Yummy once again ....Any suggestion for a top juicer but not too expansive???

Hard to say, I have bought mine, the Omega Juicer 8226 7 years ago, it costs now 50€ more. It has a 15 year guarantee on the motor, and I got once a spare part replaced for free with a new revision.

269€ Is the cheapest one though if you don't want to go manual. It is identical construction to mine, so very fast to clean and good yield with leafy greens. Just 3 years guarantee though. Their service is good.

Maybe @smallstepschange has some tips, he got the same as mine in white, sadly his dealer went broke so he has to buy his spare parts, though they are affordable and hold for an eternity if you don't make mistakes like using the juicing screen instead of the blank screen with flax seeds (this could have been fixed with the new revision though)

Very healthy ! Do you know any recipes with spinach ? I see in the shops a lot of juices with it.

The green lullaby: ½ lettuce, 2 apples ½ lime 1 small handful spinach.
Good before bed, the lettuce opium lactucarium makes you sleepy.

classic & green: 6 tomatoes, 3 carrots, 1 large handful of spinach.
Carotene loaded immunity booster.

grape & green: 4 large kale leaves, 2 handfuls spinach, 2 sticks celery, 1 grapefruit.
Good for skin and detoxification.

green citrus: 2 handfuls spinach, 2 sticks celery, 2 oranges.
For a more fruity taste.

Nice post. But my own question is that, is carrot a vegetable or a fruit?

It has no seeds, so it is not even biologicaly a fruit. It is a root vegetable. I yet have to learn about a fruit that grows under the earth ;)
