Viva Las Vegans - The World's First Vegan Comedy Show ? [Leicester, UK - 14 June]
Is the world's first vegan comedy show taking place in in Leicester in the UK on 14 June?
I still got a lot of press releases from when I ran an online news service in the UK Midlands.
As I am on a journey to becoming vegan one that caught my eye today was titled :
TV Comedian headlines debut Vegan Comedy Club in Leicester
The event is being organised by Matt Hoss, a 24 year-old stand-up comedian from North Yorkshire.
He states in the press release that he is bringing an innovative comedy club to Leicester, where the evening is entirely vegan.
The name of the event is called Viva Las Vegans and is the world’s only vegan-specific comedy night. The event takes place at Leicester city centre venue The Criterion on 14th June.
This stand-up comedy show is identical to a regular professional comedy night, but with a significant twist - all the comedians are vegan. These professional jokers are all coming to entertain whilst passively promote and normalise the ideals of veganism, but the emphasis is on the jokes. The routines are the same as a normal set, but it offers a safe recluse for vegans.
And then the cheesey punch line...
The audience will ‘leaf’ with a smile on their face and will want to come back for herbi-more!
There will of course be vegan catering on the night.
There are four vegan comedy acts featuring at Viva Las Vegans :
Kiri Pritchard-McLean
Headlining the show is Kiri Pritchard-McLean who has appeared on Stand-up Central and Russell Howard’s Hour. She is also best known for co-hosting her podcast All Killa, No Filla with Rachel Fairburn which is internationally renowned.
Ryan Dalton
Opening the gig is Ryan Dalton, who is a rising star on the circuit.
Kahn Johnson
Kahn Johnson will be your middling support act.
Matt Hoss
Compering and hosting the event is Matt Hoss. Matt Hoss, winner of the Eric Barker Award. Matt has been praised as "Fan Favourite" in The Ocelot, “Warm and endearingly funny” in NARC magazine, and “Matt Hoss gets the crowd pumped” in Inquire Newspaper.
The show is on Thursday 14 June, starting at 7.30pm, at Leicester’s Criterion.
Tickets are £5 in advance, £10 on the door. You can buy tickets online via WeGotTickets or at :
I must admit I haven't heard of any of these comedians, and I live 4 hours drive away from Leicester, so I won't be going to the show.
But if I still lived in the Midlands I definitely would go (particularly as I used to get press passes for all these shows). I am curious to know how vegan a vegan comedy show will be.
Maybe some UK vegans who I think live a bit nearer like @ura-soul and @dannyshine might make it along to the show to check it out.
Anyone else come across a vegan comedy show?

Sounds good @pennsif like you I am too far away really to go. Its great to see though. Like you I am becoming Vegan. I think is good there is more publicity come out about it in UK. Hopefully more restaurants will start doing vegan options it about time 💯🐒
Vegan options are pretty rare in west Wales.... too many sheep about.
Haha 😁 💯🐒
