Vegan alternatives to Wool
Not only are vegan alternatives to Wool better for the animals and the environment, but many often have far superior properties to Wool. These properties can help us to have clothing which is far more durable, longer lasting and have better qualities, that in emergencies could make your everyday hardship more bearable or full blown natural or man made long term disaster just a little more tolerable and survivable.
Even if you aren't Vegan, consider the types of fabric you use in your preps and research the qualities the alternatives have.

Well, i didn't really think about fabrics and the Veganism ethos.
Using Animals and their derivatives for clothing is as ancient as man, however..... in this day and age we can surpass that way of clothing and have the ability to make alternatives, which we already do...
Most modern day clothing is so good there is no real need to use animals.
The problem comes when profit is involved! There are so many out there who will do just about anything for profit that, when it comes to the animals........ there is nothing that they will not do.
I am a fan of Goretex and PolarTec, although i have to admit, i do like wool too.
Well, I'm looking into the vegan friendly clothes because I lead more vegan life, but the qualities of the materials are mostly far superior. Better wicking, heat retention in cold etc.

This is very interesting to me I had no idea that this was an issue to vegan people, so does this mean that they are against natural fibres for instance also silk??
The issue of silk is very much akin to that of the argument amongst vegans about honey. As far as I can tell. I am not 100% Vegan yet, but I am trying to base my diet on a good solid base of as much vegan foods as I can. As honey is produced by a process the bees initiate and so is the silk from silkworms, I personally find it acceptable, but I may change this opinion. For my prepping I find the properties of the materials above to be far better than what most Preppers 'go to' to keep warm, which is wool.
