The large number of deaths from infectious diseases in Venezuela can be directly attributed to lack of proper nutrition, hygiene, and horrible living conditions. Vaccinating people who are suffering ill health because they cannot afford proper housing and healthy food won't fix the problem that caused the disease. The body can't fight off disease when it's starving to death and living in filthy crowded conditions like city slums.

A current example can be felt in Venezuela where, due to inadequate health policy, the coverage of the vaccinated population decreased, which has resulted in a large number of deaths due to diphtheria, a disease that was eradicated and that I had not had the opportunity to meet in my country through 22 years of professional practice.
