Deity Po Nagar part 2

The temple is a temple made by the Cham people, formally known in the present as the central and southern regions of Vietnam. Cham people today are still around today and speak and are able to speak the Chamic language which resembles a few other local dialects. The words Po Nagar are significant to the deity going by this name.

Lady Po Nagar founded the origins of the Cham people and this has been passed down as a legend in culture. Her background is that of the mountain people in the region of Khanh Hoa. The legends state that she sailed on a piece of sandalwood across the waters, all the way to China. There the story further unfolds where she would marry a crowned prince, begetting two children. This would lead her to assume the position as the queen of Champa.
