Introduction

Applock is a simple android application that can be used to lock pre-selected phone applications and files. It helps to prevent unauthorized access to certain applications and files. Unlike similar applications, Applock is free to use and contain no advertisements.

Proposal

Applock is a great application with great functions at no cost. Adding few features will make the application the first choice for all users. That is, adding certain features to the settings interface. All this features proposed will work hand in hand.

• Multiple passwords – Applock is for locking application and files to prevent unauthorized access. Currently, users only have the ability to set a single password for all locked applications. I propose the option of multiple passwords where users can set a different password for each application. In the case of a password leak, the intruder will only be able to access a single application.

• Fake message display – The default option when opening a locked application is for a pop-up to display where you are asked to input the password. There should be option to select a fake message to display which will trick the intruder thinking it is an application error.

• Fake cover – This is another great feature that should be implemented. The user will have the ability to change the Applock icon image. This will prevent cases of intruder recognizing the application and tampering with it in a bid to access the locked applications.

• Inability to delete Applock – This is a very important feature that should be present in the application. The feature prevents unauthorized uninstalling of Applock. This is because most intruders tend to uninstall the App locker which then leaves previously locked apps unlocked.

This is the fake message display. You can see the default option in the left hand side of the combined image. I want it to look like the one on the right. The intruder will think it's a bug and will just close the application.

This is the fake cover. You can select any fake cover you desire and it will change the application icon and name to it.

This last mockup is the combined image showing how the inability to delete feature should be implemented. You can see the App Lock application can be uninstalled on the left hand side. The right hand side shows what happens after implementation. The intruder cannot uninstall it.

Benefits

Multiple passwords – This is a great feature that will improve the application. There are situations where you have to tell someone the Applock password either for the person to watch some movies or play some games. The user can easily use the same password to access other applications on your device. However, with multiple passwords you are sure of the user having access only to the desired application.
Another case is when your password leak. You don’t have to fear that all your apps are vulnerable. You know that only one is.

Fake message display – Sometimes we don’t want to let a user view certain application on our device. However, due to the persistent nature of the user, we end up giving him access to view it. To prevent this kind of situation, the fake message display will help. It will display an error message such as Unfortunately, Facebook has stopped. The user will think it is an application error or a bug and will leave the phone.

Fake Cover – The goal of App Lock is to enable privacy and prevent unauthorized access to the application. The fake cover will help achieve that. It will fool the intruder thinking it’s a weather or calculator app.

Inability to delete Applock – Most intruders resort to uninstall the application once they can’t access your apps, files, and pictures. They go on and delete the Applock. Deleting the application means all your locked files will become visible. This feature will prevent that. The intruder will be unable to delete the Applock unless you give them permission.

Conclusion

These features will greatly change the way Applock is utilized. It will increase the number of individuals using the application on a daily basis.
