Description
In this first video tutorial, we setup our android application through various means. We build out our main data model and add the Kotlin Parcelize feature to it so that we can Marshall and Unmarshall the data back and forth from JSON to a POJO. The main advantage of Parcelize over other methods of serialization being the performance and the lack of boilerplate. We then go about adding Extension functions to our application to allow us to reduce boilerplate and handle various things that will become important in the later parts of our application. This includes extending ReactiveX, RxJava and RxAndroid and making it easier for us to deal with Disposables and Disposable Subscribers. We also add a few small Flowable extension functions. Finally, we implement our network functionality so that we can easily read the API. We also add functionality to make it so that the application does not as much consume bandwidth when the user's phone is not on Wifi.
