RE: User Retention on Steemit Needs to be Improved Immediately!
I think one of the biggest steps I took on Steemit was to reach out to groups on discord, something I did not know about when I started. If the discord communities were listed in the onboard information, new users would not be swimming aimlessly around the Steemit pool, and may decide to stay around to learn.
Absolutely. Discord channels are a heaven. Would you please list some?
East Coast Steem
https://discord.gg/UT9ncgG
Writer's Block
https://discord.gg/dkKqJY3
there's also
Grownfolks Gaming
Steem Music Alliance
:) I'm sure there are lots more
I still haven't reached things like Discord, Utopian, etc.
Could you give me a hint of what is all that about?
Thank you!!
Sure! Most Discord groups meet on the Discord server, which is a voice chat/ text chat made for group communication that you can download for free, or follow a link to use on your web browser.
You can add your friends from Steemit, and talk privately, or you can talk in a group channel, that the Steemit members create in the group.
Many groups revolve around a topic, or a group subject. Minnow Support Project, helps new comers to Steemit, and then those minnows branch off into more topic-based groups, throughout the Discord community.
The Discord app also provides a voice communication which enables us to listen to broadcasts, or talk to each other in real time. This has been wonderful to be able to read poems from Steemit users, or listen to new music.
Most groups promote their Steemit posts in the discord group chat, so that other members can upvote your posts. Bigger groups may have bots that you can use to upvote your posts once a day. This allows you to meet new Steemit members, and promote your posts on a regular basis.
The Minnow Support Project is one of the groups run and influenced by many Steemit witnesses, whales, and dolphins, who collaborate to run their own radio station, MSPWaves.
Radio shows cover subjects like finance, and cryptocurrency, to self-help, and music shows. They have shows most nights, and are now looking for more radio hosts to fill empty slots.
As you can see I am a big fan of the Minnow Support Project, as they have been super helpful, and I have met many wonderful people there :)
I hope this helps! You can follow the links above to join a discord group. Her is MSP again. They will guide you through the process :)
Thank you very much for such a comprehensive response!
For your description, I find Discord as a very good complement for Steemit. I will be checking all this information you gave me.
Now I'm following you, and thanks again :)
Your welcome! :D
