Tupolev Tu-95MR Development for FlightGear

in #utopian-io8 years ago (edited)

Introduction

FlightGear (http://www.flightgear.org) is an open source flight simulator that is even used in flight schools to train basic maneuvers, radio communication and navigation tasks. It is available for windows, mac and linux.

In this article I want to introduce my development of Tupolev Tu-95MR.

Characteristics

  • Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-95
  • Maximal start weight is: 188,000 kg = 414,500 lb
  • Maximum speed: 920 km/h (510 knots, 575 mph)
  • Range: 15,000 km (8,100 nmi, 9,400 mi) unrefueled
  • Service ceiling: 13,716 m (45,000 ft)
  • Rate of climb: 10 m/s (2,000 ft/min)
  • Wing loading: 606 kg/m² (124 lb/ft²)
  • Power/mass: 235 W/kg (0.143 hp/lb)
  • Contra-rotating propellers

Development steps

I impoved this aircraft from the official version to a new variant MR. Full instrumentation, lots of animations, modified 3D-model, realistic FDM, multiplayer functions, done in month' of work with the help of some test pilots.

My last commit improved the cockpit lightning, engine smoke to more realistic and 3D sounds for engine start up and running engines. As only mono sounds are supported the 3D effect is done by position and angle of the noise. New version number 3.0.5.

Thank you for the contribution. It has been approved.

Hey hey - another model! These are really cool. Is there any chance you would be able to make a video showing these models in action with the submissions?

You can contact us on Discord.

Thank you for reviewing!

Yes! 3 more models are to come, then I will make videos about them.
I am not sure what to make but I think:

  • how to start it on the ground
  • some basic flight maneuver
  • Instrument landing procedure
  • effects in action
  • paratroopers dropping
  • runway effects
  • ......

180 Instruments to explain would be too much.
I will look up the guidelines and rules for videos.

Hello friends @chamangerbert, it is a pleasure to write you again .. In this opportunity is requesting your support with my most recent post, since in the talk about our favorite sport: chess and I would like you to give me the opportunity to post the link in this comment , and if possible; promote it so that it has a better visibility among lovers of this sport .. In advance, thank you, here I leave the link: https://steemit.com/castellano/@ropavejero/cual-es-tu-deporte-favorito

@schamangerbert,
Wow you are making them, I still don't know how to use github thing! I will try my best to get an idea! It's very interesting thing!

Cheers~

sorry for not being able to put a very useful comment to you about this post..because i dont understand much about techno things..but im learning things now :) someday hopefully i will learn things better than now :)

Man man man, ich kann mir echt vorstellen, wie viel Arbeit darin steckt. Meinen Respekt hast du!

Very complicated work, exclusively for specialists! It must have taken you days to finish the simulation program and to test it several times too!
Other people just enjoy the result of your hard work!
Cheers.

It took weeks and month!

You have two projects right now. May be busy!! 274% upvoted!!
