Tutorial: How to install Henkaku on your PS Vita - English and Filipino Languages
An English and Filipino tutorial about installing Henkaku on a PS VIta.
English
This is a basic tutorial on how to install Henkaku on a PS Vita version 3.60. I am doing this so I can help my fellow Vita gamers capitalize the potential of their PS Vita and the wonders it can do once it's been updated to a custom firmware.
Disclaimer: Please read my instructions carefully. Failure to do so may result in screwing up your Vita. If that happens, a format of your memory card may be needed to bring your PS Vita software back to normal. This tutorial doesn't include PS TV.
Before we go into further details, let's review first what is Henkaku and what does it do to your PS Vita.
If you are a PSP owner who upgraded to a Vita like me, you'll eventually notice that the official content manager of the PS Vita is very limited. It can only transfer music, videos and images which means no back ups of saves and no transferring of any kind of files to and from your Vita.
Official Vita Content Manager
This is a screenshot of the content manager before launching.
and this is the pic when it's launched.
And Henkaku removed all of these limitations and added more capabilities of what your Vita can do. It provides a GUI for file management that allows you to install applications, exchanging files through FTP, can open all types of media files and can even view and edit the texts in the files.
Things You Needed
- Laptop or PC
- Wifi
- Memory card (any size)
- FTP client (I use WinSCP)
- PS Vita 3.60 Firmware - The firmware needs to be exactly 3.60. Anything higher can't be updated, no exception. Lower firmware on the other hand can be changed to 3.60
Setting Up
First, we need to change the settings of the Vita to avoid automatic updates thus removing the risk of the firmware upgrading to higher than 3.60.
- Go to settings
- System
- Auto Start Settings
- Download Update File for System Software
- Uncheck it.
Installing Henkaku
- This is very easy, just launch your PS Vita web browser and go to this site.
https://henkaku.xyz/
- You might encounter some errors but keep trying or you can also turn off and then turn on your PS Vita and try again.
- It will do it's job and then it will go back to your home screen.
Congratulations, you've successfully changed your firmware to a custom one. Notice the Chinese symbols were added next to the 3.60 firmware.
Please remember that every time you turn off your Vita, it will go back to the original firmware so you would have to re-launch Molecularshell but it's easier because the Molecularshell bubble is already installed. Just open it and hit the install button then it will do the installation
This is the interface of Henkaku once it's launched.
Official Vita Content Manager
- Laptop or PC
- Wifi
- Memory card (any size)
- FTP client (I use WinSCP)
Tamang Set Up
- System
- Auto Start Settings
- Download Update File for System Software
- Tangalin ang check.
Pag Install Ng Henkaku
Binabati kita!
Thank you very much for reading my tutorial about Henkaku. I hope it will help you make the most out of your handheld PS Vita.

I'm really lost on this post. I don't even know what Henkaku or a PS Vita are. I'll have to look them both up.
Ok. I see now. It was easy enough to look up. PS Vita is another type of handheld Playstation game and the Henkaku is a gaming site. I don't use those handheld games and I have no clue as to the names of them.
Thanks for the insight, let me help you with that, a PS Vita is a hand held device similar to Gameboy or Switch. It is the second hand held by sony after PSP. It's like the child of PSP.
Henkaku is an app that makes your Vita do some things it can't do normally.
I've never heard of Switch either. Gameboy I've heard of and even saw one a couple of times. I never played one. It sounds like Henkaku is a bit more than just a gaming site.
Switch is like the grand child of gameboy because it's from Nintendo too, the company who created Gameboy lol, would love to have a Switch some day. Henkaku is not really a gaming site, it's just intended for Vita handhelds, if you go there and install it, the Vita will have more capabilities :-)
I see. Well I hope this post is helpful for others. I'll be most old guys like me have no clue what this is all about.
Thank you very much Sir
