RE: User Retention on Steemit Needs to be Improved Immediately!

in #utopian-io7 years ago

It would be interesting to see similar figures from another blogging or social network platforms. For me, is not unusual that low active users / total rate.

Similar numbers can be found in, for instance:

  • open rate (OR) in email marketing campaigns
  • click through rate (CTR) in digital marketing campaigns (ie. google/FB ads)

I also wonder if the "Dead Fish" figure includes users that request an account but never complete the process. For example, when I requested access to steemit I had to wait 7 days to receive the confirmation. That can also affect, but in any case, this can be acting like a natural filter, avoiding users with low interest or motivation in adding value to our network.

Finally, I would also say that Steemit is still in its early days, having reached yet the "viral" point.

As a former active blogger, I have to agree with CTR and conversion rates. The problem here is that those who didn't convert to active users stay as dead users and their accts remain open. There should be a way to undelegate SP from them and get their accounts closed and removed from the list of accounts.

But it's blockchain and inherently immutable. I don't know what else can be done.
