RE: Steem.Organic? Thanks but no thanks!
Well @anthonyadavisii, I don't know what you want me to say about the situation, but I need to be objective.
One could say @steem.organic was an attempt to draw attention to hidden gems
on the blockchain. Unfortunately, very few persons actually spend time on the Trending page. The result? One could argue that the promotions created more inflation than value gained.
On the cynical side, it might be a front for profiteering off of bid bot votes, but that would be an unfair assessment.
Is it abuse? It may or may not. Could it be abuse? That depends on how foolhardy and persistent the attempt to showcase organic trending
. Would I downvote that stuff? You bet.
It's amusing how #OldSteem came up in the comments. I, for the life of me, cannot understand why people are so set at fixing the trending page. It's beyond salvage because it was set up in a poor manner. People are trying to fix Steemit, Inc.'s front end. Why?
We have talented and dedicated Steemians working on projects such as @steempeak. They have accommodated more changes to the ecosystem in their frontend than anyone. The solution to the content discovery issue may not be fix Steemit.com. I will list some examples of how people try to make things better without trying to focus on Steemit.
SteemPeak displays the curation feed of prominent curation guilds. Each individual Tribe on their condensers show relevant content. Many of those tribes have their own sink
where people could promote content and burn
their coins.
My point is, why do we keep Steemit.com at the forefront? It doesn't even integrate itself with the communities that spawned from the SCOTs. Are we going to wait for SMTs so Steemit Inc. could finally update their mediocre frontend?
When we say #NewSteem, I had hoped we would focus on accentuating the good things that are happening. Instead, we keep going back trying to fix
#OldSteem with nonviable solutions. Hell, even the recent HackerNoon poll has SteemIT. Despite the progress made by others, we still let SteemIT represent our blockchain.
Anyways, inflation without creating value is detrimental in the long run. It is my opinion that the @steem.organic experiment hasn't panned out. How will the community react? Most likely apathetic.
