I am very excited to push this big update for Utopian.io. We are making huge steps and the Open Source contributions on our platform are increasing by a 100% daily rate.

What I am writing right now is another development update that also includes some important explanations on how Utopian.io is going to perform curation and how we are planning to use the rewards that @utopian-io is generating from upvoting and now authoring the Weekly Newsletter.

The Weekly Newsletter is going to do what the best Whales and Curators have done manually so far to find out the best projects happening on Steem. I cannot think of anyone happier than @transisto for this, since he is one of the most active accounts here looking to support and grow the ecosystem every single day.

Utopian Weekly

The official @utopian-io account publishes every week the Utopian Weekly, a newsletter curated by @dontstopmenow that will do the following:

• Showcase the best Open Source projects on the platform
• Showcase the most recent Open Source projects on the platform
• Feature the top active contributions on the platform

Utopian Curation

Utopian.io is going also to review the votes given by the Utopian Bot and pick those contributions which we believe should have got more, in order to bring some human factor in the verification of the quality standards.

@Utopian-io will Upvote the Newsletter at 50% Power

The official @utopian-io account will upvote the Weekly Newsletter by 50% Power for the following reasons:

• To bring the Weekly on the trending channel every week, so to maximise the exposure for the projects and the contributions contained into it
• To give @utopian-io account the opportunity to earn higher rewards. Read below why

Utopian Transparency

Running Utopian.io has a cost and the more we go on the bigger this cost is growing. I am already paying with my pocket:

• Over $200 a month in virtual machines and I have to upgrade again this week
• Some hundreds (almost over a thousand now) of Steem to incentivise developers and collaborators to fast forward the development of the Utopian.io platform

For this reason the author rewards earned by @utopian-io will also be used to cover these costs. No power down will happen at the moment anyways, only the earned liquid author rewards will be used. Every transaction will have a memo explaining the reason in plain text for total transparency.

I have dedicated 30K from my own pocket to this project but they are not going to be enough to keep going with Utopian.io if we want to keep the hands of private investors far from this project.

The Author Rewards Will Also Be Used to Create Accounts

Hopefully @utopian-io will have enough liquid Steem and owned Steem Power to be able to directly create accounts. This will be a huge incentive to push the platform also outside the Steemit ecosystem.
