A. Introduction

Features are what makes most applications what they are. A great feature of an app may be the singular reason why that app is chosen by users over its close counterparts. This is why developers are always rolling out new versions of their apps with new features. For example, when Whatsapp was in its early stages, each group chat had a limitation of about 100 members.

Soon after, Telegram was released and did not waste time to push theirs to 1,000 and subsequently to 5,000 members. Due to this singular feature, a lot of Whatsapp users began cross-carpeting to Telegram. Whatsapp was thus forced to increase the group limit to 256 members so as to accommodate more users on a group.

The thing is, if you are not on hand to keep track of a business environment and find new ways to satisfy the needs of consumers, a competitor may come on the scene and sweep everything off from under your feet. Therefore, app developers and business owners alike usually employ people to track these statistics and find out what users want.

In the last episode of this series, we looked at some of the features present on Steepshot. Our focus on that article was on the post promote feature, which allowed users easily promote their post within the Steepshot platform. We equally looked at the share to Steepshot app feature which allows users share content from their gallery to Steepshot. Finally, we discussed the unlimited tags feature where users are able to make use of up to 20 tags, way higher than the 5 tags limit allowed on the Steemit platform.

In this article, we will talk about another set of features present on the Steepshot app. These features have been quite useful to me and I believe other users will find them helpful as well. Please read on to find out more.

B. What is Steepshot?

SteepshotA.jpg

Steepshot is a picture sharing app like Instagram that has been built on the Steem blockchain. This platform seeks to reward users for submitting their pictures and videos contents through it.

The rewards from these activities by users of the platform comes in the form of an upvote on their post from members of the community. At the end of seven days, users are paid out Steem, SBD and Steempower.

C. More features of Steepshot

We shall now take a look at some of the other exciting features present on the Steepshot platform. These features are already being enjoyed by current users of the platform and I'm quite sure potential users will enjoy them as well.

i. Share posts to popular social network

In my last article, I wrote about the Share to Steepshot feature. This feature allowed users share their pictures from their galleries to Steepshot with the single click of a button. This made posting to the Steemit blockchain through the Steepshot app an easy task.

Now, the feature I am writing about here is like an opposite of the Share to Steepshot App feature. With this feature, you can easily share your posts from the Steepshot platform to a number of popular social networks. Some of these social networks includes but are not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, Pinterest, Instagram and a host of others.

Let's say you are pretty active on Facebook and Instagram and the same content you post on Steepshot, you usually do post them on these other social networks as well. With this feature enabled on Steepshot, you have now been provided an easy method of cross posting from Steepshot to any of the social networks.

The process to get this done is quite simple and easy for anyone to start out with. When you make a post to the Steem blockchain via the Steepshot platform, a number of buttons are attached to each post you make. At the right top corner of your post, there's a button that has three dots on it. When you click on that button, it brings up some other options.

The option you need for this feature is the "Share Post" option. Simply click on this option and it will bring up a list of all the relevant social media applications you have on your device. Choose your desired app and your post will be exported to the social media platform you have chosen. Now, your friends and acquaintances alike on these other platforms can see your pictures and the posts that you upload to Steepshot.

I like this feature a lot and I know it is quite a helpful feature. With this feature, I can now make a post on one platform and share to the other different platform with ease. It is quite simple and straightforward to use and saves me a lot of time in the process.

ii. The Wallet Feature.

Every user of the Steem blockchain has a wallet where his or her cryptocurrency funds are held. This wallet is the home for the users Steem and SBD funds, as well as Steem power. Users can also carry out a number of transactions through the wallet feature. Some of these transactions includes sending and receiving Steem and SBD, powering up and powering down Steem power.

A number of dApps built on the Steem blockchain possess this wallet feature, which makes it possible for users to carry out transactions from any of them. If you are not cool with using the wallet feature on Steemit, you can always use that of Busy, eSteem and a number of others.

The Steepshot app is also another front-end to the Steem blockchain that possesses the wallet feature. Steepshot's wallet feature allows users to view their Steem, SBD and Steem power balance. Users can also view their transaction history on the Steepshot wallet feature. It has the "Transfer" button also located here and users can click on it to send Steem or SBD to friends and family.

There are also other buttons here like the "Claim rewards" button which allows users claim rewards from author or curation payouts. The Power Down and Power Up button is also located here which makes the wallet feature on Steepshot a complete one. The power up and power down button can be accessed by simply clicking on the three dots that is attached close to the transfer button. You can then select any option of your choice from the drop-down menu.

I love this wallet feature on Steepshot because of how beautiful and organised it has been created to be. It even looks better and prettier than the wallet feature on Steemit.

iii. The Push Notifications feature

Screenshot_20190105-043422.png

Push notifications are a great way of being or keeping in touch even when you are not presently on an app. With push notifications, you become privy to what goes on around when you are absent. The push notification settings allows you to do other things and still monitor the happenings on your account.

On Steepshot, the push notifications feature is one of the important features implemented by the team on the Android and iOS app. When you enable the push notifications feature on Steepshot, you begin to receive notifications on activities and happenings on your account. For example, when you are upvoted, a notification is sent to your phone. If a user comments on your post, you equally receive a notification. If you are followed by a new user, a notification is also pushed to your smartphone.

This feature is a great way of monitoring your account without even having to open the Steepshot app. In addition to this feature, users can also subscribe to receive updates from any users of their choice. When such subscription is made, you begin to receive notifications on a number of activities of that particular user you subscribed to. For example, if I subscribe to the @utopian-io account, I will be notified whenever there is a new post made by the utopian account.

D. Conclusion

The three features I have shared in this post are some great features that should not be neglected by current users of Steepshot. Also, these are features I believe potential users of this dApp would love. I am hoping to see some more improvements as well as new features on the Steepshot Android and iOS app.

I hope to see you on the next episode of this series. Enjoy your weekend.

I remain your amazing dApps presenter, @curtwriter.
