MY DESIGN - 1UP PIXEL ART LOGO DESIGN CONTEST
Hello everyone, it’s another beautiful and awesome day again, hope we are having a great week ahead. Today, I will be showing the processes I took to create this logo design contest for 1up. Below are the steps that were taken to create the logo design.
BRIEF OVERVIEW
Before we start, I will like to quickly give a brief overview about this design. I came accross the request from 1up for a pixel art logo design for 1up and I decided to jump on board. I wanted to create a logo design that looks clean and not complicated. So I started thinking out ideas and concepts, then if decided to jump into photoshop and let my creativity run wild.

TOOLS USED
- Computer (windows PC)
- Adobe illustrator CC 2015
- Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
- Creative thinking
Now to the fun part;
STEP 1
It all started with thinking out ideas in my head. The idea that came to my mind was to create a robot-like design. So I jumped into photoshop and started sketching out the concept
STEP 2
I created a 20px by 20px document in photoshop. I used this extremely small size so as to expose the individual pixels and make it big enough to see.
STEP 3
After that, I created a new layer and started trying to match my sketch idea while painting on direct pixels. I used a 1px pencil size to match exaxtly with one screen pixel
STEP 4
Next, painted the legs
STEP 5
After that, I painted the eyes and mouth area
STEP 6
Next, I painted the 1UP name
STEP 7
Next, I painted the antenna area
STEP 8
After that, I painted the border
STEP 9
After I was done with the pixel design, I turned it into a higher resolution image size and saved it out as a png file for use in illustrator.
STEP 10
After I was done in photoshop, I impoted the png file into illustrator and used the image trace feature to convert my png design into actual vector shapes.
STEP 11
Next, i deleted out the unwanted elements and left only the design elements and addes stoke outlines on the vector design to make the whole logo pop.
STEP 12
After converting the png to vector shapes, i copied it over to photoshop to add background variations and do the final image exports.
STEP 13
And that is how I created the logo design contest for 1UP.
OTHER VARIATIONS
CONCLUSION
This logo design was just pure creativity, there was no rule behind the design, I just wanted to create something that looks clean and works well.
