This is a weekly, semi-automated post where I will show some statistics and graphs of the development category. It will also serve as a showcase for the staff picks and task requests that were made in the current week. If you have any suggestions or things you'd like to see in this post, then please let me know!

Staff pick(s)

[SteemGigs] Enhanced Search & Bug Fixes by @tobias-g

Although picked after the fact, I still want to include this post here. Tobias is a great bug hunter, but also a programming wizard. In this post, he showcases the new and enhanced search page he has created for SteemGigs. He also presents many small bugs he fixed alongside it. The new search page allows users to search using a selection of different search options, with the aim of providing users with more control in finding the gigs they need. Of course, being Tobias, he has also drastically improved the UI, and made the page look much more modern and sleek.

Frontend Users - New Sign up + new Log in + Site types by @pcsg-dev

With this update, Hen, from PCSG Developers, has updated their Frontend Users module with a new sign up and login control, and also a sign up as site type, so that everyone can create their own page. Each part has their own sort of customisation available to them, which means they can be adapted to each person's needs. Furthermore, the amount of work that has gone into this update is immense, and is a great example for others on how to keep your code flexible.

Category summary

  • There were 29 contributions of which 25 have a chance of being rewarded, or already were rewarded.
  • The average score was 68.7 with an average reward of 37.4 STU from Utopian.
  • The total reward from Utopian for development contributions this week (so far) is 973.1 STU.
  • There were a total of 25 unique contributors in the category. Of those 2 were new contributors in the development category (@asherslab, @pibara).

As you can see, Wednesday was the day with the most activity in the development category. Monday and Thursday had the least activity in the entire week.

Average score, reward (STU) and time before review (hours) per week

weekly_overview.png
Time before review is the number of hours between the creation of the post and the time it is reviewed by a moderator.

Unfortunately the average score of contributions is down from 72.0 to 68.7 this week. The average reward has also gone down from 42.8 STU to 37.4 STU. Of course with the average score also going down, this was sort of expected. I say sort of, because it is a bit strange it went down considering STEEM's price has gone up quite a lot. Lastly, the number of hours it takes for us to get to a contribution and review it (on average) has unfortunately gone up a lot from 12.3 hours to 18.0 hours - not sure why.

Number of contributions reviewed per week

weekly_reviewed.png

As you can see, the weekly number of reviews is up from 20 to 29 (although some of these are test posts by @gregory.latinier)! This seems to be following a trend, as the number of contributions over the last two weeks (49) is also up compared to the two weeks prior to that (41)! It seems like me worrying about the number of contributions wasn't really warranted, and hopefully it continues growing. I think it mostly has to do with people like @dehenne (and @pcsg-dev), amongst others, coming back and submitting their posts to Utopian again, which is great to see!

Contributors

Number of unique contributors per week

With the number of reviews going up this week it's obviously not that surprising that the number of unique contributors has also gone up quite a lot from 17 to 25 this week, but of course this is still very cool nonetheless!

Moderators

  • @amosbastian reviewed 13 contributions with an average score of 69.6.
  • @codingdefined reviewed 1 contribution with an average score of 65.5.
  • @emrebeyler reviewed 2 contributions with an average score of 75.2.
  • @helo reviewed 3 contributions with an average score of 64.8.
  • @justyy reviewed 7 contributions with an average score of 57.4.

The king is back, baby 😎 Helo has been unusually quiet this week, and so I had the opportunity to take the #1 spot back!

Number of reviews per weekday

weekly_number_reviews.png

As you can see, Friday was the day where we reviewed the most contributions in the development category. On Monday and Thursday we didn't review as many contributions as usual. Not really insightful, even if the differences between those days it pretty large, but I always like to include it anyway.

Task request(s)

Task Request: Jarvis - Heroku Implementation & Guide by @therealwolf

Therealwolf is looking for someone who can implement his Jarvis project into Heroku, so it's easier for people to have their script work in the background around-the-clock. In addition to this, he also wants them to write a short guide (step-by-step) on how to set up Jarvis via Heroku.

Task Request: Jarvis - User Interface by @therealwolf

The realwolf is looking for someone who can create a simple user interface for his Jarvis project, where users will be able to set up their configuration in the browser instead of having to do it by text, which should reduce the threshold of being able to use Jarvis.

Also, if you think there is anything that can be worded more clearly, then please let me know!

Thanks for providing the Development category weekly overview. Your commitment and effort in the category are appreciated. It's perfect to see the continuous growth in the numbers of contributions. Also, I'm glad to see that some contributors are back to the category. I think we can expect more increase.

The report itself is well done. The visuals are accurate, highly informative and fun to read. I can feel the excitement in the post.

Once again, thank you and have a good week!

Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.
