Translating Steem Whitepaper Genesis | English-Dutch | #2

in #utopian-io5 years ago (edited)

Project details

My first project as a Davinci/Utopian translator was translating the Steem Whitepaper. You can read the final post here with links to all the translations I have done within that project. I noticed the Genesis Whitepaper had only been translated 37% of which no strings were yet proofread/confirmed on Crowdin.

The Genesis Whitepaper is interesting since it lays out all the initial thoughts on the Steem Blockchain, with the Whitepaper as I translated it before leaving out some aspects and/or tweaking some points due to gained insights. For me it's interesting to translate the Steem Whitepaper Genesis since the information is still fresh on my mind, meaning I will be able to translate quickly and do a little game of 'spot the differences'. By translating the Whitepaper I will also be reading the Genesis for the first time and I'm curious what I will learn.

Contribution

I've translated a little over 1000 words. There is a lot of overlap with the 'current' whitepaper, except for the parts about mining and how to prevent botnets from abusing the system, which was therefore new information to me. There's no more 'talk' about mining on the Steem Blockchain, only a rare reference to the early miners. It's interesting to me to learn what opportunity these miners was given and what checks and balances have been built in to prevent miners from grabbing STEEM and dumping it quickly on the market.

To be continued

I'm back in my regular translation rhythm after being at SteemFest4. I told people I was amonst others a translator for the DaVinci/Utopian collaboration and many people seemed to know what I was talking about, always responding positively and how that's a good 'job' to do on the Steem Blockchain. I was happy to learn these names are familiar with many people and the 'brand' seems to have a positive image amongst the Steem Community.

Hey @altrosa, thank you for your contribution to the translation project for Davinci-Utopian!

It's very nice for me to see this earlier version of the Steem Whitepaper. There are some differences and there are some parts the same, which makes it quite the interesting read. At the same time, it is nice to 'catch up'. We will both know the whitepaper by heart by the time this is done!

There is really nothing left to say than: Great job, as always!
